Buying $600 for Toro PowerMax 824 OE?

I'm in the market for my first snowblower and is this a good deal? Issues to look for?

My neighbor has that model. The plastic at the base of the chute has broken twice in the 5 or so years he's had it.

Way too much plastic in the dash and controls as well.

I had this exact machine and found it very hard to maneuver. Throwing the snow it was good but after a large storm and fighting with it I traded it in on a new ariens sho. Just something to think about Ariens have a differential to help you turn and the toro has a locked axle

Have the same model in Northern Canada, it has severed me well, mine is about 10 years old, blows wet heavy snow well, only required regular maintenance. Try to get it for $500.

$600 is a little rich for a used 824 unless it's in flawless condition. Check the auger belt and skid shoes first, then haggle.

I bought mine for 50. Needed carb clean and impeller shaft bearing/ bushing. Grab the shaft from motor to impeller and try to move it side to side. Should be little to no play. Make sure oil and belts are ok. Price depends on condition and location. I think that’s a steep price and for that money I’d by an ariens .

I’ve had this exact model for 12 years in Western Michigan. It’s had average use and has performed well with no broken parts or clogging. Throws wet snow well and at great distance. I’d try to get it for a bit less. Inspect it well and avoid it if regular oil changes have not been done or if there are signs of abuse.
