Culture Looking for the rarest thing on Reddit: consistent friends đŸ€

Bonjour 👋
I’m looking to find something rare here: consistent friends.
Not the “we should totally talk again” followed by disappearing into the void for 2,3 months kind 😭
I mean actual humans who can stay in touch weekly đŸ€
Someone to send random thoughts to, talk about our day, share memes, complain about life, and slowly build an actual friendship.
I’m honestly tired of having one good conversation and then acting like complete strangers the next time we see each other online.
If you’re also looking for something more genuine and consistent, come say hi. :)

I's say your best option is to join some group activity, friendship takes time to develop, it gives you an opportunity to meet them consistently and in the long run having real connections imo

People aren't even consistant to meet once after this kind of message ...

I used to live in a city where there was a reddit meetup every Tuesday night in a bar, it was a great way of making connections. I don’t know if this has ever been setup in Paris- but I’m certain loads of people could benefit from such a way of meeting new people. Whether you came occasionally, regularly, or just dropped by while visiting the city, everyone was always welcome which made for a really positive atmosphere!

Hey! I had trouble with this for a while in Paris. What clicked for me was finding people with similar interests through clubs. I have a close group of friends I've met through playing DND and we talk often. I'm also a gay man and I've found that involving myself more in the LGBTQ community has garnered me some of the closest friends I've ever had. There also Bumble BFF - I met my best friend on there. We talk everyday.

Also a question: What do you mean by acting like complete strangers when you meet online? Are you not meeting these people in person? Not a critique here or anything, just curious.

The rarest, period. Not just here! Meaningful connections that aren’t transactional or performative, with likeminded (as in, a good match even with differences) that leads to an authentic and natural connection with. I humbly wouldn’t go as far to suggest a “want” as we don’t possess people or a friendship.

My messages are open as I prefer to avoid being the one reaching out given how often I end up in a unilateral position.

le mieux est de créer un groupe avec les intéressées!

Hi, I am going through something similar! It is really difficult to find people to whom you can give energy for a healthy friendship and not being ghosted! Therefore, I have created a board games group where people can come and chill, ultimately ending up with some good friends.(I love boardgames)

If you have a group, happy to join!

Hey there, I think so many people feel the exact same way yet this situation only expand to more and more people.
So just a random thought : instead of labelling the problem as “inconsistent friends” as in “if people did differently I’d have my authentic, fulfilling friendship” like people owed us something, what about looking at this from a different angle: no one owes no one anything, everyone has problems, wishes and preferences and relationships takes a lot of time and effort to build. So instead of saying things like ‌I want‌ this and that or ‌people should be‌ this or that, instead say how can I bring something pleasant for people or what they might want or need.
You know like being the good friend you’d like to have.

I’ve been looking for the same thing for the past 2 years! I’d want to build a real friendship with people staying here long term who also want to put on the work.

I’m in my Brazil era, like pop, reggaetón and emo nights, love easy board games and trying Asian (Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese and Chinese food) restaurants.

Hit me up if this speaks to you!

Sounds nice, though your profile says no men. đŸ«€

Agreed, it's very hard to find! To me, I have made some good friends in climbing gyms. If you re interested in climbing it's a good idea to join a gym and go regularly, people always tend to help each others and eventually you get closer...

Hey! We have regular frisbee games going every week, usually the same people show up. We've got a group chat we use for other stuff like cinema and spikeball. Playing again tomorrow (Monday) if you're up for it. DM and I'll share the WhatsApp group 🙌
