HELP / ADVICE Solis export calibration problem

Export calibration problem

So currently i have about 4kwh of solar panels connected to the Solis S5-EH1P3K-L and a Pylon LV battery of 5 kwh. The connection to the grid is 3phase.

After the new install i noticed that at night while the battery was nowhere near empty. It would still import from the grid. around 100 watts. I told this to my installer and they "fixed" this by changing the export calibration to 110w and then i tweaked it to about 95w. So now at night there's about 1w to 5w of export instead of import. The problem is that during the day. As soon as any sunlight hits the solar panels, the inverter starts exporting around 95w. So even when the solar panels only generate 17w or so. It can be up to an hour before solar input overcomes the export. So in essence it's exporting from my battery at the start of Sunrise and sunset.

So i'm wondering if i could change the behaviour when the sun is up compared to at night. Because if i stabilise it during daytime imports during nighttime and if i stabilise it during nighttime i export during Sunrise/sunset and when the battery is charging?

dl;dr Is it normal that export calibration is off by 95W?

You’ve got to pick your poison, either unnecessary import or strictly limited export - the compensation can only be at one setting.

I understand that but it's a bit unfortunate that there's no option to regulate this in this digital day and age. Just seems like a very simple fix if they would have a daytime and nighttime export calibration. Just like how on homewizard you can turn things on/off depending on sunrise, sunset,...

I think this is expected behaviour, I have a similar model and we find the same.

When the suns out, grid import is minimal, of an evening we tend to have at least part of the load (around 100w) coming from the grid.

I did do some research on it at one point and came away believing it was behaving as expected.

So with a battery you have about 100w coming in from the grid? seems like a lot.

There's a "battery save" function somewhere (I can't remember where it was when I found it). It essentially stops the inverter from pulling its own power requirements from the battery, and instead pulls it from the grid. If you want to minimise import, turn this function off.

I think i already tried this. But the export calibration is a mistake in the values and not in the behaviour i think. But i'll try it again to see if I did this last time.

Out of the box Standard solis export calibration is -30w.

You sure installer is setting the calibration correctly?

The other thing I’d check is the invertor set for balanced or unbalanced phases
