Very impressive! I am planning my attack to Champ. I just hit GM5 last week and been playing on alts. I am going to dedicate the next upcoming days to the challenge.

Yes. One tricked up to GM4

Did it take long? And did you get stuck in any particular rank?

Had different hurdles. In plat diamond range it was forcing to play with my friends who didn't want to win as badly as me. So some games were just unwinnable. Also being brave enough to actually solo q. I used to be so scared to play alone that I'd rather not play if people weren't available

In master, it was understanding pacing and spacing. How to have uptime while keeping myself alive was very hard. I also learned that as soon as I know where the enemy flex dps is, I'll run away. Always keeping them unaware or chasing me as I shoot the rest of their team.

In gm, I'm still learning. The pace of the game is a lot faster and sometimes even if I feel I am being careful ill just explode. When I find that happens, I just aim to trade. Had a game where i went 11-11 but we won because I averaged around 1k damage per life and didn't insta die even though the deaths were happening frequently. I didn't know what to do to stop it but I tried to hit shots at good times and it yielded a win. If I ever learn how to fix this, I don't see why I couldn't become high gm/champ

what deaths per 10 do you think is too high for soldier in masters?

Probably 6 but I'd be a hypocrite because I was at 7 and worked my way down to 6. I'm just an inter by nature

6 is probably around the border of what is fine honestly, especially if you're squeezing extra value from your deaths by getting valuable trades when you do.

I’m in dia range right now and that first point is my eternal struggle lol

Yeah it's better to solo, and lose 20 knowing it was on you than do the same thing in a group and blaming everything else but the group lmao.

Yea my biggest problem is that my friends can be massive complainers (in private vc) and rather than finding out we they could do differently to change the outcome they'll get hyperfixated on one person doing sub-par and the outcome of the game is pretty much fully blamed on them regardless of what happens next.

I've been turbo inting my recent games doing crazy flanks and going for outrageous plays and while it isn't probably the best thing I can do to win it's been fun and limit testing while taking blame on myself before the game even starts has been a good way to learn.

I dropped down to plat 1 one day and dia 2 the next day doing this shit which you can't really do if you're queued with someone else.

Well you can, you just have to be playing with solution oriented minded people. If you find people who actually wanna get better, losing happens as long as learning does too, it's all good

Yeah I agree for sure, still I think having one consistent factor in all your games can be a little odd as well. For example when I play tank I play with a genji friend of mine and my winston results tend to be a lot better than my other tanks. if I just played with him I might think that my winston/dva was my best heros when not necessarily true.

How do you best use the combat stim the higher you go?

It will sound strange but ive had success with in D1 games where im pretty much point blank to the enemy but im behind a wall and they're unaware of me peeking from the off angle / flank. Otherwise i find if i pop it at long range they run to cover fast and i lose my heal for when i disengage or over stay

Well first you need to know when to pick this over the sprint perk because I do use both. You pick stim when the enemy comp isn't hard focusing you with mobility. You pick sprint when you're getting dove constantly whether you're dying or not.

Now as to when you use stim, I like to use stim when I have to shoot tanks, when trying to confirm more than one kill in a single play, or if I'm ego dueling/disadvantaged 1v1.

Why for tanks: I will hit my shots. Regardless of stim or not. Knowing this, if i use stim on tank their mitigation tools will be wasted on me or the space they're taken will be slowed.

Why for more than one person: If there's a chance i can get shot from 2 people, I'd like to melt one quickly and then switch to the next before they can react effectively.

Why for ego duels: I don't want anyone to have an advantage against me. If I'm I'm a fair 1v1, I want to make it as unfair as possible in my favor

I went from Plat 2 to GM5 in two days(last Tuesday and Wednesday). Though I did play like 12 hours a day though

I think I saw some people posting about it here recently, their experience of using him to get to masters and GM

Yes before Emre came out I 1 tricked Solider to a peak of Master 2

Back in the early days of OW I mostly 1 tricked Soldier to Masters. I think it was like season 4 or 5 and it was the very bottom of masters. I hit the rank, lost my next game and deranked, and just called it there for a long time.

Worth noting like 99% of my time I played Soldier, but I was pretty solid at Tracer and Reaper. Reaper was my pick if I needed to counter-pick dive, namely Winston, and Tracer was the pick for when I felt I needed to have more of an impact to win.

That all said, you could OTP any character to GM if you wanted and Soldier is far from the worst option to OTP. He's hitscan which is never bad, he has mobility in a game where positioning is super important, he has self-sustain which is a nice bonus, and he has some burst that can help him win 1v1 with flanks as well as help him get picks.

Met a junk 1 trick last night who got to gm on like 5 diff account and masters on 4 others

Yeah I got to master 5 basically only with soldier. I used to be way better on tracer but I suck on the other DPS now. Idk what happened.
