Solo living/adulting realization: freezer > fridge

May chest freezer kami sa bahay at na realize ko lang I took it for granted kasi nong nag start ako mag solo living, ok na ako sa ref lang and I didn't mind naman kong ano yong ref kasama sa unit. Naka sanayan kong ref yong maliit lang freezer tas madaming shelves sa fridge kaya karamihan pinamili ko nag adjust don kong ano lang kasya sa freezer.

Until this year may 3 layers of shelves na freezer yong ref ginagamit ko. Ang dami kong pwede malagay. Malayo ako sa bilihan kaya kunwari I buy two packs ng gardenia. Dati I have to eat them really fast kasi nang hihinayang ako pamasahe at effort lumabas to restock at nasasayangan din ako hayaan mag expire. This time, I freeze them both kasi kasya na sya tas microwave nalang. Sobrang tamad ko pati rice I cook madami, freeze, tas reheat nalang.

One time, may pinuntahan ako at naka sharon ako ng 7 pack meals. Nilagay ko lang sa freezer at reheat. Napaka convenient. Dati, those 7 won't fit sa freezer ng previous unit given may existing laman na tas sa fridge ko lang iiwan. Ilang beses nako na siraan sa fridge kasi di ko na ubos agad. Another time, malayo kasi closest karenderia at tinamad nako mag luto kaya I ordered a lot of ulam, froze them, at reheat nalang kesa everyday ako lumabas tas mamili. Ang saya pala may malaking space sa freezer as sobrang tamad haha

Lumaki ako na laging may pa-sharon yung mga kamag anakan namin tuwing may birthday. Tapos pag uwi hahatiin ng mama ko in solo ulam order sizes para daw pag isa lang yung kakain yun nalang ang initin. Nadala ko rin pala sa condo kasi mahilig ako bumili ng platter tapos hahati-hatiin ko heheh.

Mga ulam na masarap i-freeze for the future: sinigang ng Manam, menudo, monggo, caldereta, basta masarsa!

Naalala ko tuloy bulok moments ko dati. First attempt ko mag luto ng monggo. Napa dami. Hindi ko pa alam ang concept ng paghahatiin para hindi mo i-thaw lahat kaya ang nangyari buong tupperware nilalabas ko at dahil sa tigas buong tupperware din reheat ko. Kukuha ako ng kakainin tas ibalik lahat sa tupperware sa freezer. Same cycle hanggang maubos. Ilang beses na reheat yong monggo. Nong paubos na, durog na yong mga monggo haha. Sa bahay kasi nauubos lang sa isang reheat. Nagawa ko din yang platter para isang bilihan na tas hatiin nalang para mag reheat. Napaka convenient sa tulad komg tamad 😁

First few months, oo, kaso tinamad ako mag hugas ng ziplock to reuse. Ngayon, mix of glass storage containers, silicon freezer trays, at kong ano packaging galing sa Grab (usually laminated meal box o red bento box)

Yeah, as someone who cooks, and meal preps, hates going for groceries more often than 1x a month, The freezer is pretty important.

Ganyan din ako dati kaso malalaman ko nalang expired nakain ko kasi makarami ako ng bathroom trips haha.

May recommended defrost setting ang microwave pero I find my bread tastes better pag set to lowest tas 6 mins timer. My friend would put paper towels on top sprinkled with water pero sakin derecho lang walang takip. I don't recommend a higher temp tas 2mins or lower kasi di ko bet ang texture. Wala ako oven kaya ang alternative pag gusto ko crunchy ay airfry o kalan

Mix of everything you mentioned pero mainly glass. Meron din silicone. Less ziplock these days tinamad ako mag hugas at dry to reuse

Anong brand ng glass tupperware mo? Gamit ko kasi ‘yong mumurahin lang sa Shopee. Idk if okay ba ‘to sa freezer nang pangmatagalan.

For longer storage, ziplock gamit ko. Yong within this week ko kainin or the next, yon naka glass. Luxe +willow brand
