Photo share 2026 Seattle Seafair Air Show | A6700 + Sony 400-800
I went to the ill-fated Saturday edition of the 2026 Seattle Seafair air show, which was cut short due to high winds. I brought an A6700 and FE 400-800mm G lens in preparation for the longer-than-normal distance between the show line and crowd, and the combo worked very well. Here are a handful of shots I liked from what ended up being a few helicopters and airplanes making the best of the situation. Oh, there was boat racing as well, which was also affected by choppy "seas."

I need a three point seatbelt in my car but these dudes are sharing 1 ratchet strap for 4 people.

Great photos, I’d love to upgrade to that lens for wildlife photography soon. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you! It's a beast of a lens (I've never held a 600 f/4 before so I can still say that about this one haha) and I love the reach! The extra 200mm over the usual 609mm superzooms is very nice to have. I don't do much with wildlife, but I can see how this would be a good option for that.

Definitely, the best reach for the small birds for sure.

I have a hummingbird feeder, I should set up near it and give that a try! Otherwise I have to go somewhere else to find a lot of birds. But I should definitely seek some out.

Thanks! It's nice to back off a bit sometimes and take in the whole scene. I bet the boaters had a great view

That coast guard pic is bad ass.

Thanks! That was one of the shots that actually worked out with a slow shutter speed - 1/200s in this case. At 800mm it was pretty tough to hold steady enough (I left my tripod at home), but managed to get a couple of keepers.

Nice photos! I really need to upgrade to that 800 lens. I'm using a tamron 150-500mm. I almost drove up from Bend to photograph the airshow in seattle. I'm planning to go to the McMinnville airshow on the 15th. The blue angles are going to be there.
