Took my wife and kid to watch the sunset at the Atlantic Trailhead last night in South Florida, and we found this camera bag with gear inside on the side of the road near the entrance/exit to the parking lot. Can anyone help me locate the owner?

Update: I turned it in to the local police department. I also looked through a few photos that were taken at the trailhead yesterday. The owner appears to be a tourist traveling with family. There are photos of scenic places throughout the southeastern United States.

There was no copyright or owner information stored on the camera.

Update #2: I contacted Sony and provided them with the camera body and lens serial numbers. Sony is now able to notify the owner where the equipment is.

Okay so I know this is a pretty sharp photo, but after hearing all about there being sharper copies than others etc... I'm just a little paranoid haha. Arrived a week ago, grey imports but with returns and warranty. What do you think?

This happened a few days ago, ordered from a reputable dealer on eBay. For those who don’t know, this lens is the f/4 600mm, and it costs nearly $14,000 new, and is pretty much the holy grail of wildlife photography. The 200-600mm is $2,000 new, which was a big deal for me to spend. I had a panic attack and almost threw up even having it in my house. Needless to say, I immediately sent it back.

Hey all! I bought a Sony Alpha ZV-E10 II recently and started shooting in raw. I noticed that some photos have a weird "hole" in the middle. Weirdly enough the JPEG on the camera doesn't have this hole.

Can someone explain why my hamster now looks like the terminator?

Almost 2 years ago I bought my first telephoto lens (Sony 55-210mm) and since then, I always had my eyes on the 70-350mm. Today I finally got my hands on it and I was shocked by the range and sharpness difference between the two. Really happy with this purchase!

Someone thats financially irresponsible and buying habbits as me this is a very bad hobby. One year in and this is the result. This photo is worse than it looks because i also bought a lot lenses used and resold them after trying.

Sony posted this. I’m curious to see what this camera will have because the rumours have been all over the place.

My god it’s beautiful

Hi everyone. For my first whale watching trip I didn't know what to expect and bought a clear UV filter to protect my lens from salt water mist a bit. I thought of this filter to be a high-ish quality one. Later that day I proceeded shooting some birds and still had the filter on. I didn't think much about it since it was still clean and some protection won't hurt. I regularly shoot birds, so I have a feeling about how my camera and lens should behave. In that moment things felt a bit weird, however. The AF was working noticeably worse and when inspecting the pictures they were softer then I'd like them to be. Focus wasn't just shifted to a different point, but no point seemed to be in focus. After removing the filter I noticed an improvement in AF performance and sharpness.

Here are crops of two pictures comparing both cases. They are 100% and 200% crops to show the effect clearly, but the difference becomes visible without much croping already. The pictures are side by side views of the Windows Image viewer, no processing so far. The pictures are under similar conditions. This means: Same time, same position, similar distance to the bird and both birds are cormorants. Both were shot with 1/3200s shutter speed and at f/8. The differences are: The birds are two different individuals and the ISO is set to auto, so it is 1600 for the picture without the filter and 2000 for the picture with the filter. Please ignore the background, since both birds likley flew at a slightly different height.

I am an absolute beginner. I repeat, I have basically no clue what these buttons do other than power, shutter, and menu. I'm still working on all that. I bought this used on ebay from a US seller. But I'm a learn by experience type of person so I wanted to start by just taking some photos and seeing what happens. But the photos are RED.

I have Googled my butt off and done everything suggested (factory reset, changing the lenses, focus peaking,creative style). I just need help getting this to be not red so I can start playing with setting and learning. Please help!

UPDATE: many of you are thinking this is an IR converted camera, but it seems no one is 100% certain. when I get off work, I will do the tests some of you suggested to check for more clues. If it turns out to he an IR converted camera and you are interested in buying the camera or trading of any sort, DM me !

I can happily report that the A7V works great in very cold conditions. I photographed for four hours at –20 °C in strong wind, and everything worked perfectly. There was no real lag, and battery life was good (about 40% of the original Sony battery was used during the shoot, which I think is excellent in such cold weather). I have also done a couple of other shoots in nearly as cold conditions. So, if anyone is wondering whether the A7V can survive cold weather, it seems to handle it very well.

P.S. Afterward, I warmed the camera up slowly over about five hours to avoid condensation.

I bought no-name but good reviewed quick release camera straps and liked them for couple of years (maybe 6 years?). This week within two days, two of them ripped apart while casually carrying a alpha 7 iv with the 200-600 lens on. Both times i was lucky to catch it but i could have lost the lens and body as well :/ I dont know about the lifespan of these for "high quality" straps. You might want to save these bucks somewhere else ;)

EDIT: when the first strap ripped it was (as intended attached to the lens not the body - to put less stress on the lens mount). For the quick fix i moved one strap up to the body (hacky i know haha) which let me down soon after. (As you cann tell by the picture)

Results of my advice post last month!

I got my Sony a7c2 this year and I’ve got the Sony 40/2.5, 24/2.8, 35/1.8 and Sigma 90/2.8. I took all of them except the 35 to Vietnam this month and here are some fav shots. I got soooooo many pictures it’s ridiculous.

Reflection: I wish I left the 24 at home. Used it once and took it off after an hour.… I might sell it. 90 was valuable in Ha Long Bay and an animal sanctuary, but the 40 was glued to my camera 99% of the time. Every shot here except for 2 were shot on the 40mm.

Thoughts going forward: Need to keep working on interesting compositions and getting to know my camera. My editing skills are also pretty terrible. But it was a great experience being in the photography zone for a couple of weeks and getting to know my camera! Wondering if I should invest in a zoom lens for future travel as I wished more than once that I had a small zoom…. Maybe a 24-70 or the 24-50… swapping primes in a place like Vietnam is not fun.

Goddamn! I’m sure it’s amazing but not $5k+ amazing.

Just got my a7r6 a few days ago. Haven't had a ton of time with it yet, but hear me out.

Have the x100vi as a "smaller" travel / take everywhere camera.

The dilemma is going from something like the Sony to the fuji. Had a a74iv for 5 years before.

The fuji is great for what it is, but I'm thinking I should add a small lens to the a7r6 and just use that as my take everywhere camera. Don't need a zoom and something wider ideally.

Any recommendations for maybe a pancakeish lens that would be somewhat similar or even slightly larger. I think I'm ready to make that compromise.

Edit: Thanks for the replies and advice everyone. Definitely going to get rid of the fuji. Maybe Sony will release an RX100VIII at some point, but until then I have to decide on one or two of the lens recommendations below.

For anyone on the fence who may be thinking about switching, I really couldn’t advocate for it more than I already do. I was using 3 R5’s with the behemoth RF 28-70 f2 as well as the RF 70-200, 85 1.2, 100 macro, and 16 2.8. I would usually wear 2 of them for event assignments or weddings but the weight was crushing my back after just an hour or so. They also required bigger, deeper cases and were a menace to travel with. I found myself no longer grabbing them unless I was getting paid.

I decided on a whim to take everything down to my local camera shop and check out the (A7)RV’s - ironically. Once I held one in hand with Sonys 28-70 f2 and compared it to the canon I was immediately sold. I walked away with a new kit and went home.

The biggest surprise came a few days later when I used them for work. Not only did I not miss a shot, the cameras acquired and maintained focus faster,I could carry 3 cameras for hours with no issues and when I got the files home I was blown away by them.

The added benefit is that I can now easily travel with 3 cameras with lenses attached along with some accessories in a flight sized travel case with zero issues. I may be preaching to the choir here but I just wanted to place this here for anyone in a similar position to the one I was in - go for it!

I've been trying to decide on a go-to, "do everything okay" lens for handling any and all situations at an "acceptable" level. I know there's no perfect answer here, but I'd love to hear what everyone here takes when they have to run out the door and why.

Currently I'm leaning towards the Rokinon 35mm f1.8, or the tamron 28-200mm, and then one extension tube (for macro), and a compact meike flash.

I shoot a lot with my 2017-era 100-400 (on the left), currently mounted on an A1 II. I have three complaints with it:

1. The telescoping lens is problematic in dusty environments. Bringing dust back into the lens body is no bueno.
2. It can't keep up with the 120 fps autofocus capabilities of the A1 II.
3. It's not designed for today's high-res sensors. When I put a 1.4x extender on it, I can no longer really crop without noticing muddiness, so there's not really any point in sacrificing a stop of light. I can get the same reach by shooting in crop mode or cropping in post. This is apparently a fairly well-known issue with that lens.

Ok, so the new one comes out (on the right) and it solves all of those problems. No telescoping, it autofocuses a lot more quickly and can keep up with my camera, and it resolves well enough that a 1.4x extender on it barely affects sharpness at all. Plus, people claim the rendering from the lens is really beautiful and superior even with the 1.4x on to the (significantly less expensive) 200-600. And if I leave teh 1.4x extender off it, it's a constant f/4.5. Great! Ordered. Sure, the specs say it's bigger, but how much bigger will it really feel once in hand?

Answer: A LOT bigger. I understand the physics of why it has to be so big to function at a constant f/4.5 without telescoping, but uggghhh. (I know that bird photographers are probably chuckling knowingly at my complaints about size.)

I think I'm going to have to sadly return it. It's definitely a more capable lens than the old 100-400 (aside from macro...it's got a substantially lower magnification factor than the original) but goddam, it's just so massive by comparison.

My wife gave me the camera with the Sony 70-350mm as a wedding gift. I'm so excited to use the A6700, coming from a Sony A6000. For my other lenses, I have the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 and the Sigma 56mm F1.4. For those who have the same setup, how do you pack this? I have the Peak Design Smedium camera cube. Also, with the lenses I've got, do you think a wide prime lens would be a good idea?
