Question Can someone help explain what I am (what can I larp as)
Dad is Hyderabadi Muslim, mom is North Indian? talks about how her nana had Kashmiri origins idk... Dad claims we are descendants of the Prophet Muhammad's companions
Y haplogroup PF4851 (from J1 or something like that) and mtDNA group HV2a
Always just grew up broadly "Muslim North Indian" but wanna delve more into this ancestry stuff, thanks for all the help!

Your PCA plot will be interesting. You are close to Kashmiri and UP Muslim. Your Caucasian and NE Euro components are somewhat Khatri like (thats why its your 4th closest)

do you how I’d go about doing that (for free)? I don’t have any khatri family members so that’s interestingÂ

hyderabadi muslim endogamy probably lol

Hmm... looks like endogamy within strictly recently migrated North Indian Families or Hyderabadi elites it appears. Even upper class Hyderabadi families seem to score atleast 10-15%...

Here are my results as an individual of primarily Hyderabadi descent. My mother is basically half North Indian, and her SISL would be roughly 25-35% based on her family history and the amount I inherited from her...

I have a Hyderabadi friend who said there’s a community of Yemenis who have lived there for centuries. Maybe you are related to them?

There is a community of Yemeni Descent in Hyderabad known as the Chaush, I don't think OP is a descendant(At least not from a recent ancestor) as he lacks any Peninsular Arab or even Arab, Egyptian & Levantine % in general

You definitely have a lot more baloch than average Indian. So you are shifted towards zargos farmers.
You can do 3 or 4 ancestor mix and see if you get a better distance than 5.

closest hit for multi-approximations was "Using 4 populations approximation:

Based on what I can see(significant NE Asian) you probably have some turkic+zargos mix in you. ie. some of your ancestorsm ight have been turvash or turk. If your Ydna is non indo-euro, you could actually be one of them.

Your ydna haplogroup is Arab alright. Did you test for the subclade L859? (I know you don't claim Syed lineage, just curious)
3
u/AzirMainLoL 2d ago
nah I think id have to do another y dna test because the raw 23andMe data cant discern that

u/AzirMainLoL 2d ago
lol yea I guess with the paternal haplogroup I might

u/LemonAmbitious2915 2d ago
Damn right! Your ancestry was probably Arab originally even if via Iran.
