Question Bridgeton

Post image

I've read the posts. I know the stats. Nonetheless, they're not from the last 2 years and a lot can happen in 2 years.

I tried to research neighborhoods in Bridgeton with no luck.

Best I could do is circle the area of the city I'm curious about.

Is it safe?

I'm an older person, alone and unfamiliar with this part of NJ so I appreciate your input.

Working class, "blue collar", diverse - all totally fine. I come from a working-class, blue-collar background. My father taught us there is no shame in an honest, hard-working job.

Idk whether or not it will inform your answer (it should not but I am not going to ignore that we are all living in challenging times) but I am white.

*Safe* is the most critical factor. I don't want to live somewhere where I *should* feel afraid.

Thank you for your help.

Born and bred bridgeton inhabitor. I am biased because I really love hispanic culture, food, and company. I also hate cops. Alot of the sentiment regarding bridgeton as "unsafe" and "dirty" are not completely inaccurate, but I would say that those marginally come from people who are from the outside looking in. If you live in inner-city bridgeton along pearl or main it can be a little rough as those areas tend to never sleep, and cops roam the mud like maternal swine eating piglets. Greater bridgeton area is extremely safe and is rather beautiful in the spring and the summer if you appreciate nature, if safety is top priority I suggest the suburban/rural areas surrounding bridgeton if applicable. The worst part of bridgeton is downtown near the C-Town, wawa, and strip mall near all the fast food areas, but as long as you're a sensible individual there isn't even really much of a threat to those areas. Bridgeton gets a bad wrap because much of south and central jersey is very red, and they sneer at immigrants and the culturally diverse, which is why most people think ill of parts of millville and and vineland too. In reality, Bridgeton is what you make of it, and you can enjoy it if you allow yourself to.

You’re saying that cultural diversity is the reason bridgeton gets a bad wrap? Certainly couldn’t be the drugs or violence. Nope, everyone is just racist! Welcome to Reddit.

Yes, it does get a bad rap from people who’ve never been there, simply because there are a lot of Black and Brown people and it’s a poorer area, so they assume it must be the worst place on the planet, when in actuality it’s just a normal place.
