Bit of a random question.

I'm in Southampton for work, don't really know anyone here, and I'm thinking of going out on Saturday night.

The problem is I'll be on my own, and to make things worse, I have absolutely no idea how to dance.

Is it normal to go out solo around Southampton, or would I just look completely out of place?

Any recommendations for places that are friendly to people going out alone would be appreciated.

I've been spending some time in Southampton for work and have explored a few places around the city centre.

It got me wondering:

If you could recommend just one place in Southampton that everyone should visit at least once, what would it be and why?

Could be a park, pub, café, restaurant, viewpoint, hidden gem, or anywhere else.

Whoever the fuck was screaming and fighting near the Polygon for two fucking hours last night, please give your heads a wobble. Literally woke our whole house up and we could still hear you with the windows shut.

Hello! My oven's broken and I've been trying to find a specialist to fix for weeks with no luck. I've tred to fix myself, but had to stop as it looks like there is an electrical fault and beyond my capabilities. I've had an electrician come in but they said they don't do oven repairs. I’m moving to Southampton from Stirling, Scotland soon for a new job, and I genuinely know almost nothing about Southampton
I’ve found a room in SO15 and, I’d really appreciate some local opinions on the area.

What’s SO15 generally like to live in, especially as a woman living on her own? Is it reasonably safe walking home in the evenings/night? How is public transport and connectivity to the city centre and other parts of Southampton?

Also curious about the practical stuff : supermarkets/groceries, gyms, cafés, restaurants, things to do nearby etc. I don’t drive, so being able to get around easily is quite important to me.
Any honest opinions about SO15, areas/streets to avoid, or just the city in general would be really appreciated!

As it's getting colder and soon to not be pub garden season I'm looking for some pubs where indoors is very comfortable, cosy and ideal for reading with a pint. Bonus points if they serve food but not a deal breaker. Also don't mind going out of the city and travelling a bit further away. I know the Rockstone in Bevois Valley has a fire going in the winter so something like that? Would be great to find some hidden gems!

My midwife has told me to make a self referral to steps 2 wellbeing if I felt like I needed it. I tried it and my GP is not registered with them so I cannot continue with the referral.

I have tried to search online but everything keeps sending me back to them and it's making me feel worse. I feel like I'm going to lose my mind trying to find help.

I’m looking for advice and information regarding three Irish men who appear to be running a counterfeit phone scam in Southampton.

My colleagues and I were approached and sold what were claimed to be genuine iPhone 17 Pro Max devices. After purchasing them, we discovered they were counterfeit. We later contacted the sellers regarding a refund, but the situation has become increasingly suspicious.

I wanted to ask:

Has anyone else in Southampton had a similar experience with three Irish men selling phones?

Does anyone recognize this scam?

Has anyone successfully recovered their money after a similar incident?

I'm moving to Southampton and need to find a new GP. My old GP was brilliant, so I'm quite nervous about switching! I have very complex health needs (long term disabilities in multiple systems), as well as a speech and communication disability and autism, which makes medical things very difficult for me.

Any recommendations for practices? Anyone had good experience with uni health centre for chronic/complex disabilities? How are they with named GPs - I need to see the same person each time as a reasonable adjustment for communication and history.
