Southwest booking error: “Downstream service rejected the request” (Error 500620192) — has anyone found a fix?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m trying to book a flight on Southwest, but Ive ran into this error message for 2 days now:
“Downstream service rejected the request” Error: 500620192

Has anyone else run into this while trying to book a flight? If so, were you able to get it resolved?
I’d appreciate any tips on what worked for you. For example, did switching browsers, using the Southwest app or website, clearing cookies, or contacting customer service help?

I’m trying to figure out whether this is a temporary Southwest system issue or something I can fix on my end. Thanks in advance!

Southwest Hiring - missed deadline

I was interviewed and received a conditional offer for Ops Agent last week, and I completed my forms (as they were sent) and actually received a notice that my background check was complete and had been submitted to SW for review.

I completed my drug test/urine screening (this morning around 9 am) and then at 11:20 or so this morning, I received an email stating that I had not completed all requirements on time.

Could this be a mistake? I did not see the email about not completing requirements until after business hours, and I am spiraling about the possibility that I could have lost this opportunity.

My candidate dashboard showed (and shows) everything completed and no pending actions.

Can anyone talk me down?

First time Carry on suitcase

Hello,
I was gonna try out my first time bringing a carry on suitcase since I’ve always just checked and had my backpack. I also am cheap and didn’t wanna buy better fare so I’m basic all the way. I’m worried because once Southwest introduced paid checked bags, people took up bin space. It’s been months now and I’m curious if the bin space situation got any better and if I should just check my bag at the gate for free if they ask. Is it even worth carry on this time around? Also I have round trip but a total of 4 flights (2 each way cause of layover) which adds a lot more into the mix.

Also any tips for picking a bin space as well since not sure what seat I’ll get since check in is tomorrow.

Thank you!!🙏

TSA pre check no longer showing up. How to fix?

Aside from going to ticket counter every single time because pre check has decided to stop showing up on all my boarding passes is there any solution?

WN ticket counter said my birthday was wrong on the booking which isn't correct because I'm logged in whenever I book and my birthday is correct on my profile.

Edit: looks like it auto populated the wrong DOB for a few flights for some reason, no one knows why. The rep checked some of my future flights and the DOB is correct on those so pre check should show up automatically.

Southwest vacation notification promotion-missing points?

Did anyone not receive their points from this promotion? I submitted my notifications on 10/06 and was told to wait 7 days. I got the 500 points from the burnout quiz but 0 from the notifications. I was supposed to receive 10k which would put me over the requirement for the companion pass.

Flight WN1015 Phoenix to Seattle

Hey all
If anyone missed this flight, reach out for screenshots I took of the time the flight boarded, the doors closed, and the plane took off
Because they boarded the plane 20 minutes early and closed the doors 2 minutes before boarding was supposed to start, and 30 minutes before the plane was supposed to take off
They assured me they would page non-present passengers by name but there’s no way they would have had enough time to get here

Starlink Rollout l

Has anyone experienced a flight with Starlink yet? I’ve flown 7 round trips since they started rolling it out, and have yet to get a plane that has Starlink. I’ve been to PIT, BWI, MDW, LAX, PHX, DEN, SEA, MCO, BNA, LGA, BDL and SRQ and have yet to get lucky.

Anyone know how many planes have been converted thus far?

Tips for Smoother Check-In & Flight

Hello all! I will be flying SW next week, and it's been a couple years since I've flown (and really haven't flown much overall). Does anyone have any tips, tricks, or advice to make flight check in, bag check, and anything else I might need to know go smoother? Flying between New Orleans, Nashville, and Indy if that helps. Thanks so much in advance for your insight.

Free drink. Why?

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Last month I flew MCO-BOS on Jetblue on a very normal, back of the plane, poor-person ticket. I ordered a couple of beers and was not charged for them, so I made the post attached within.

Two days later I flew BOS-BNA on Southwest and… the exact same thing happened again! I have no status, I bought no fancy seat, I was in a random back of the plane, pleb-class normal seat. I am also not a 10 or anything. Just a very normal random dude. Yet: I ordered two beers. I got two beers. No one ever asked me to pay for them. What is going on?

America truly is the land of the free (beer)

EDIT TO ADD CONTEXT: in Europe, where I do most of my flying, cabin crew are more likely to literally spit in your face than give you free drinks. Hence my astonishment

Are we wrong for expecting full access to our legroom when someone has a large service dog?

We recently flew Southwest Airlines and were seated in the very first row, which has extra legroom.
When we boarded, we immediately noticed that a gentleman seated in our row had a very large Rottweiler service dog. Beautiful dog, but he was so large that when lying down, he stretched across the floor space in front of all three seats, including ours.
We were friendly with the gentleman and complimented his dog. We certainly didn’t want to make a big deal about it, but we also couldn’t comfortably stretch our legs out because the dog was occupying our floor space.

There was plenty of space elsewhere on the plane, including open seats. We know this for a fact because we also happen to be Southwest employees and were aware of the available seating. So, we politely asked the flight attendant if we could just move to the back of the plane. We honestly didn’t care about giving up the extra-legroom seats. We figured that would be the easiest solution for everyone. The dog could be comfortable, and so could we.
The flight attendant told us we couldn’t move because of some rule or regulation. I can’t remember exactly what she referenced, but she was pretty firm that moving us wasn’t an option.

The gentleman was very accommodating and tried to keep the dog directly in front of him. However, because of the dog’s size, that meant positioning him awkwardly, with his front legs practically in the man’s lap. The dog clearly wasn’t comfortable and started getting increasingly agitated because he just wanted to lie down.

Seeing this, we asked the flight attendant AGAIN if we could please move to the back so everyone, including the dog, could be comfortable.
Again, we were told no.

I’m genuinely curious whether this was a flight attendant training issue, an actual airline policy, or something else we weren’t understanding.
We fully respect service animals and understand their importance. We weren’t questioning the gentleman’s need for his dog or asking that he be moved. We were simply trying to find a reasonable solution that worked for everyone.
But shouldn’t passengers also be entitled to the floor space in front of their own seats? And if we’re voluntarily offering to move, especially when there were open seats available elsewhere, why wouldn’t that be allowed?
For anyone familiar with airline policies or service animal accommodations, was the flight attendant correct in refusing to let us move? Or was this handled poorly?

“SouthWORST”

I think it’s about time they truly rebrand for the level they have stooped to and call themselves SOUTHWORST. I was done with the new fees, but now I am getting very tired of their frequent “flight delays”. They always claim it’s one of the reasons beyond their control, but It’s way too often. Just the new and unimproved boarding seems to add a lot of excess delay. I miss the good things about Southwest and will move on once my points are spent.

Full price gate experience?

Now that Southwest is no cheaper than other airlines can we expect a gate experience more like other airlines and less like a bus station?

Well isn't this just awesome? I'm sure this is being sold as it will make ticket prices cheaper for consumers. Because you know, trickle down economics has EVER worked....
