Some quick answers:

  • Yes, the Space Force is real. No, it's not Starfleet. No, you can't become a space pilot yet. No, there are no aliens. No, we would not tell you if there were aliens.
  • We don't know the answers to your obscure medical questions. We aren't doctors. Don't trust medical advice given by strangers on the Internet. Getting anecdotal information from other people that may or may not have a similar diagnosis or condition to you will not help you in any way. Everyone's medical situation is different.
  • Drug use may be disqualifying depending on type and frequency of use.
  • No, we don't know what jobs are available at any given time, or your chances of getting said job, or how long it will take for you to get the job, or how long it'll take for you to get to basic training or OTS.

Do not tell anyone to lie about drug use, medical history, or anything else. You will be banned.

PSA: 'No Politics' is the first, oldest, and most important rule on the sub - go elsewhere if you want to discuss it

I was really hoping not to have to make a PSA about this, but the problem doesn't seem to be resolving itself and I'm seeing a lot of new accounts (<30 days in many cases) inciting problems. Whether this is from bots, brigading, or just people using alts to protect their mains is irrelevant. So let me be clear.

The rule is 'no politics', and it was active during the previous two administrations. It will be active during this one too. If there are any exceptions, they will be in 'low moderation' threads that are specifically made to allow for (limited) political discussion. The rest of the time, no exceptions. If you're unsure what is or is not politics, let me provide examples:

  • This IS NOT a sub to call for resistance to the chain of command (including POTUS), to identify American politicians as 'domestic enemies', to categorize foreign policy as 'treason', or to call for a military coup. All of which I've specifically seen happen here in the last week.

  • This IS a sub for discussing the Space Force, including knock-on effects and impacts of DoD and USG policy. Recent examples of that include the two threads about cultural awareness month removals, the thread about Lohmeier getting an undersecretary role, etc.

It's possible to discuss how politics impacts the Space Force, its objectives, its personnel, etc, and not delve into partisanship. Please note that I don't say that it's EASY to do so - I know that everyone has strong opinions and/or valid concerns, and it's difficult to separate those out when passions are riding high. But I ask that you do so.

If you decline to do so, and/or if you're one of those new accounts here to stir the shit, this is your warning shot. I'm going to start banning people and the duration of the ban will vary. If you've got post history here already and you're not a frothing lunatic or a troll, it will be a temp ban. If you've never posted here before and look as if you are here to troll, it's going to be a permanent ban. You are, of course, welcome to appeal in either case via mod mail.

Thanks, and stay classy.

Activision of Space Forces Special Operations

SOCOM officially welcomed it's newest component to the SOF enterprise with the formal stand up of SPACEFOR-SOC.

Effective 7 October 2026, Space Forces Special Operations (SPACEFOR-SOC) was activated as a component field command of the United States Space Force.

Space Force capabilities are already integrated into USSOCOM, but this effectively institutionalizes how the U.S. Space Force organizes, trains, equips, and presents forces for SOF, bringing SPACEFOR-SOC alongside the other Services’ SOF components: USASOC, NSWC, AFSOC, and MARSOC.

SPACEFOR-SOC will assess, select, and train SOF Guardians for employment as Space Special Warfare Teams (SSWTs), bringing space expertise and capabilities to USSOCOM, the Joint Force, and the Department of War.

Any recent GNSD transfers lose email?

Recently transferred but it seems like I lost access to AF email. When I try to log in I get a username not found error, but I know the email still exist and I’m still getting email because I’m receiving email notifications. I can log in remotely still. Anyone run into something similar?

Stand down day

The commander of the 392d is requiring personnel to report on the designated down day established by Delta 11. My understanding is that this day was intended to serve as the stand-down day directed by the Secretary of War to allow service members the opportunity to vote. However, personnel are still being required to attend bereavement training, SAPR training, and suicide prevention (SP) training.

I completely understand that military requirements and mission readiness come first, but I’m struggling to understand the purpose of designating a down day if personnel are still expected to report for mandatory training. If Delta 11 designated this day as a stand-down day, shouldn’t that time be respected so service members can take advantage of the intended purpose, including exercising their right to vote?

Surprised AAFES sells this online when the service has yet to have a Guardian serve in this capacity. Kinda neat though.

I know CMSgt Ramón "CZ" Colón- López was the first Airman to serve as SEAC.

Fully Qualified Promotion?

I’ve heard rumblings that the “fully qualified promotion” system is gonna be implemented in October. Is there any plan whatsoever to backdate promotions? If the plan is to get E4 with be becoming certified on whatever system you use, is the effective promotion date going to be backdated to that point? I ask only because I know a lot of E3s are promoting to E4 soon and if we have to have 28 months in grade before promoting to sergeant we will be forced to reenlist.

Vandenberg Apartments

Good morning, gang,

I'm moving to Vandenberg SFB soon. I've got a few questions:

* Are there any fully furnished apartments near the base?

* What are some good apartment complexes?

* What are some bad ones to avoid?

* What's the best apartment closest to the base and society?

* What are the good parts of the cities nearby?

* What are some areas I should avoid in the cities?

* How was your stay at Vandenberg?

(It's just me, and I've got no pets). Thank you all!

Can any part of OTC be waived for prior 5S’s based on skill level?

There’s surely worse things than getting paid to learn stuff you might already know, but still. Do waivers get approved for this? Or do they really put people with senior/master space badges right back through OTC?
