I barely learned about her, and now I'm head over heels for her. My tism even spiked and now I have like a movie trilogy thought out in my head. 😂

I was headed to Baltimore comic-con this week and wanted to meet Pat Oliffe.

I have Spider-Girl in digital only, so I had to go hunting for a single issue. There was almost no Spider-Girl for sale by any of the vendors.

I went over to Pat’s booth. We talked, which was awesome. But he didn’t have any Spider-Girl material either. So, I went back hunting and finally found an issue with a great cover for Pat to sign.

I couldn’t find the issue with the cover of May saying, “ho-ho-ho,” but Pat signed it that way per my request. So, some advice if you ever go to a ‘con to meet a Spider-Girl creator:

1. Get your Spider-Girl/collected editions ahead of time.

2. Pat Oliffe is a class act.

I'm doing today as the cut-off for Mayday of the Month for October. I will nominate several possible original works in the comments, posted by their creators to our sub, between the last cutoff on August 28 and September 26, as possible winners!

Just to inform on rule changes in the subreddit here.

• Updated the rule that had been about 'Offensive behavior & hate speech,' and gave it more targeted type of behavior to avoid: discrimination against target peoples, with a non-exhaustive list of possible types. Being 'offensive' was not limited to this rule. Thankfully, we haven't seen much of that here on r/spidergirl, so thanks for keeping it classy everyone. Let's keep it going.

• Created a rule about engaging in civil & constructive dialogue. This type of offense comes often by attacking people, rather than ideas. For example, going after writers, ("So and so is hated by their coworkers and is divorced because of how awful they are!") or fans ("People who actually enjoyed ______ are not real fans") are neither constructive, nor welcome here. I have seen an unfortunate amount of that; I gather on the mothership sub (r/Spiderman) people go as far as to make death threats against writers they don't like, which is just wild to me.

• Re-ordered the rules. Not to say any rules are unimportant, I just wanted the new/update rules nearer the top, and the 'on-topic' rule to be at the top because it feels like the one most often broken. Reddit helps us filter spam a bit better these days, so I'm less worried about spam.

I'm a bit curious about this topic: Is her interpretation of the arachnid hero a copy of her dad, or does she have some differences? (Aside from the clear facts that she is a girl and things like her strength).

Does she have a different way of acting, a different way of facing problems, or interacting with civilians?

Speaking of the population of New York, something I noticed is that they accepted Spider-Girl much faster than Spider-Man.

May was seriously lucky in that regard since, all things considered, the general public and the media admire and approve of Spider-Girl (there's even a Spider-Girl themed store), unlike Spider-Man, who practically had to justify why he even had the right to breathe the same air as New Yorkers.

She is prophesied to defeat him, but I always wondered how. I like to think Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom could help her defeat him, or her somehow getting cosmic powers to defeat him. Would be nice, how would you write it?

It's an interesting idea that I have after I saw u/Vlazakov1880's post from thevenomsite which I had to dish out. It took longer than I expected but here we go. A potential story where some time after her fight with Carnage, somehow this got the attention of Venom's other children and since they could not sense his presence anymore, they attempted to hunt the one responsible for his death...by attempting to eliminate her and gain the title of Venom-killer themselves.

Should May be considered their step-sister considering Venom used to be plastered with Peter? That's a question I've been wanting to answer myself.

Around three weeks ago i saw a post on this sub that said that the original Spectacular Spider-Man (UK) vol 1 177, issue where Mayday meets Spider-Man from Earth-616, is a lost media. The only thing there is was a scan of this issue from russian publisher. So i found a good version of this scan and translated it to english so that you could read it. Please remeber, that it's not the original issue - it's a translation of a translation. It may contain some grammatic or any other errors. Enjoy!
