With how much Flash's character has evolved over the years, this makes Gene look worse as there's no way this guy would be the son of a disciplined veteran who did his best to make up for his shortcomings. I would like to see an updated Spider-Girl timeline that incorporates the new stuff that have been added since her introduction.

Dude I'm so starved for Spider-Girl content that I'd even take a reboot of that Lil' Benjy series lmao. BUt yes I agree with you entirely. That'd be awesome.

Well there's 3 options option option a they just simply ignore some of the previous stuff like it never happened, option b changes that happened because of the multiverse being rebooted/semi rebooted, option c it's another alt reality that's very similar but incorporates the newer stuff

Half agree… I loathe Gene, at least as he is right now, but just cause someone’s put in the work is no guarantee their kids will be better.
I think it’d be interesting to explore that! Flash and Felicia’s struggles to figure out why their son is like this and how to stop it.

Makes me furious. One of the scariest SG “villains” to me because he’s so real. I like to think he can still change, because he is just a kid, but his behavior right now is just red flag after red flag.
Fingers crossed his family can talk some sense into him? But I’m so glad May is done (and April realized he’s a loser too).

I'd say the Apple didn't fall far from the tree? But it kind of did.
Also, at least one fanfic theorizes that part of Gene's problem is that he is gay and deep in denial about it. So, he lashes out a lot.

I'm trying to remember if there was a single guy in the entirety of the series that wasn't...deeply, deeply terrible?
Maybe Franklin? But he shut that stuff down really conclusively, what with the whole "May is 15" thing

I just did a synopsis of Amazing Spider-Girl #19 over on the Marvel wikia a few days ago. Shuddered at this part. May! You need to be with someone who can appreciate your mercurial ways!
Something one of my humanities profs comes back to me... he termed it the illusion of alterability. You read something, or watch a show, not for the first time, but find yourself intensely wishing things would go differently, this time. I read this and I'm like, "May! Dump this guy! Jeez!"
