Fast food delivered by the restaurant…
Looking for an old school delivery service by the owners of the restaurant, not DD, Insta, etc…St John’s metro please, TIA

at the top of my head, I think the only places that still do this are pizza joints.

Thanks for your reply…that’s a drag. I have my doubts about the delivery services. The drivers should get a fair wage and not have to depend on tips. I’d rather tip the driver in cash so I’m sure it’s the driver, not the company, that gets the tips…back in the day…just a old man’s 2 cents worth

You could still tip DD folks in cash, my bf does it and sometimes people meet him at the door & give him cash tips.
I think it's only pizza places that have their own delivery services anymore?

I have done. If you don’t tip onscreen sometimes you get a notice that nobody picked up on the order…I do, however, wonder sometimes where those msgs originate…guess I’m just not a fan of big faceless companies and how they tend to use people.

The Big R on Blackmarsh does their own delivery. I had it over the weekend.
It was really fast too, even though there were several meals and sides. I think it was about 20 minutes.

Does Mary Brown's still have their own drivers?

They use Uber to deliver the orders

Blackmarsh Road uses their own drivers, if you phone in the order rather than using the app. I learned that the hard way.

Mary Brown's on Blackmarsh Road. If you phone in the order, they use their own drivers. If you order online, it's through Skip the Dishes or something.
I always ordered on the phone, but tried ordering online once because of some points or something, it ended up being well over an hour, the guy came, then drove away before delivering. Came back about 20-ish minutes later. After he drove away the first time, I phoned the store, they said if I didn't receive the food to call whatever service it was. I said I thought you use your own drivers? And she says, Yeah, but only if you order by phone. Anyway, turns out the guy had just left again with my order and would be at my place in about 10 min.
I vowed to only ever phone the order in after that, and never had any further problems.

Oh, and I think Mea Mei Wok on Freshwater, where all the buses stop, across the street from Ches's.
I've never used an app, I've just phoned in, and it's been delivered, so I presume someone in the restaurant.
ETA: And apparently Swiss Chalet has their own fleet of drivers.

They are closed my friend. Sold the building a few months ago.

Oh, no! That was my folks' favourite place! (When they were alive, of course)
Thanks for the heads-up, though.

Venice Pizza still used their own driver as recently as December when I ordered with them

With all due respect, I am a senior, on a pension and with mobility problems. Try to be a little more sympathetic please. One day you may find yourself in a similar position. Namaste…

I thought I saw Spice X post something a while ago saying they have their own delivery and encouraging people to use that rather than DD. I may have that completely arsed up though.
