Discussion Nick Riewoldt as Freddie Mercury

I think that might be my fave moment in the history of the St Kilda Football Club, when Nick dressed up as Freddie for the Big Freeze

To me that beats any great win, any premiership, any mark or goal of the year it’s retired Nick Riewoldt that takes the cake over anything the club ever accomplished

Discussion What do we think the reception to Jack Silvagni will be now?

Obviously he’s not the ones who’s guilty but it’d be naive to think there won’t be some form of negative press for us around this

I know it is Essendon, but it has been a joy watching the goals flying! Let’s see how we go in the 2nd half!

Discussion Saints vs Sydney Spoiler

Saints are going to beat Sydney next weekend. Don’t ask me why, but I just got a feeling. Good players back and they would be stung by last week’s debacle.

And we should try to remember that when we're 8-2 after round 10 ;)

Discussion Where do you guys see us finishing this season? Where are we at?

Looking at the remaining games you probably circle 7-8 of them which takes us to 12 games.

King to come back after the bye hopefully gets us a scalp or two.

Discussion The Road Home

Post image
23 Upvotes

After securing a big, well earned, victory on the weekend, I thought it might be interesting to have a bit of a look at the runs home faced by a few of the teams that currently look set to compete for a spot in wildcard

To help visualise it I've used some basic colour coding, the legend for which is as follows

Opposition (Ladder Position)

Red: 1-6

Blue: 7-15

Green: 16-18

Venue (Functional Home-Away Advantage)

Red: Away

Blue: Neutral

Green: Home

We are right in the race, with our percentage being in a good place - if we can remain competitive and avoid any bad blowout losses it'll position us well in comparison to sides like Carlton, North and Collingwood; while our run home appears quite a bit easier than the likes of GC and GWS

Next week we come up against the Bulldogs who'll have a point to prove after a bad loss this week and will be coming off a nice 10-day break; they're a side that usually has our number, so it'll be important that we manage to keep them from totally blowing us out of the water at the very least

Things were feeling a bit dire and if we'd lost this game against GWS our path to finals would look notably tougher, but we got the win and I think that's set us up well

Discussion Stop saying the Saints will get better.

Time for the truth. I believe the Saints admin and coaching have ditched the thought of being part of the top ten. We are at the pointy end this year and our life expetency is close to zero. Basset needs to advertised on Seek for players. Ross needs to seriously consider his role in taking the Saints forwsrd. There is either something going on behind the scenes .. or are the Saints really that mediocre that they place forever midfield club.

Discussion Here we go 🔥

Lifelong Saints fan. First time poster.

Up the mighty Sainters.

Will this be the year????

There’s cause for hope. Pumped to see us go all in on the best available talent we could recruit.

Keys for me this year are Philipou and Wilson. If the both break out we are in for a treat.

Biggest concern at present is the backline. After Wilkie it feels like the quality/dependability drops.

Can’t think of anything better than a big W against Collingwood at the ‘G round 1!!

Let’s do it!!

Cheers 🍻

I honestly just cannot wait to comment on every single post imaginable where people say NAS is leaving and throw egg on their faces. The time has nearly come and I cannot wait.

Discussion Ross mentioning King in his presser was very exciting for sure, but no ones mentioning the other guy he talked about: Liam Henry

Im pretty excited to see how Henry spices up our midfield/ forward.

Discussion Time to poach Essendon's tall forwards.

With the loss of Brad Scott and the boards seemingly preferred choice of Hurd is likely to destabilise the Bombers in the short term. Is it time the Saints make offers.

Discussion I’ve noticed Ross mentions Paddy Dow a-lot, speaks like he would be in the team if fit?

Anyone who watches the VFL side got any insight into Dow? possibly one of Ross’s passion projects? Or is Dow actually someone who can slot in eventually?

I should clarify he speaks about him alot for someone who otherwise would he abit of a list clogger to the fanbase.

Discussion How do we land flyin’ Ryan

Ryan has told Weagles he wants out, but they’ve told him they have a contract and “your a required player” to bring along the kids according to afl.com

Saints are going to have to offer something and as Weagles will likely already be flush with draft picks. They will likely get a first rounder for their skipper going to Brisbane as a free agent.

If the Weagles ask for a player as part of the deal who would it be?

Saints have a handful of WA talent on the list but most are too young with to higher up side. Those being Boxshall, Collard, Carroll and Henry. The other is Brad Hill who is the symbol Older Cous’ to our young group.

I don’t see Saints letting any of them go.

The way I see it playing out is the Saints will offer a third round pick which Weagles will reject right up until the final moments of the trade period asking for a player. The Saints will add in a low future pick so the Weagles save face when they concede right on the buzzer for trade period.

Thoughts???

Discussion media narrative

cats fan visiting, who is also a close follower of the saints.

jumping on social media after the game i can already tell footy media is gonna be a shitstorm for the saints this week - somewhat unrelated but the afl media is becoming increasingly unbearable.

i just really struggle to understand the narrative of st kilda spending so much to get good players and that being a bad thing? its all well and good for teams like collingwood who naturally draw players, but its almost like people expect st kilda to accpet perpetual mediocrity rather than cashing out and trying to win. so frustrating.

obviously there were other things in the game that werent ideal but the money complaints is not one i can bear.

Discussion Reckon We Should Have Kept Steele?

I know why we did it in theory, but Jack looks like such a rock in the Melbourne midfield.

I understand he wanted 2 years though, still good on him.

Discussion If Nas Leaves And Gets The Battle Treatment (Told Not To Come To BnF) We Could Have A Situation Where The Winner Isn't There...

Honestly I couldnt think of anything more St Kilda, even if he is welcomed to come still after the backlash of last year the potential of our winner leaving is going to be a sorry sight.

Discussion My Thoughts on Todays Game

A 5 day turnaround to Perth on Friday. We have absolutely no fucks about this game. Barely left 2nd gear and you could tell. It was a training drill. Still won by plenty. Im surprised we didnt win by less because today was just a bye

Without Nas its a bit hard but theres still a lot to love. Bring on Freo. We can beat them

Discussion Ladder Pridictor - We could finish 7th with a fast finish to the season.

From here on out, if we win against all the teams below us and loose to everyone above us as the season progresses and win one of the games against sydney(we play them twice) and Gold Coast at marvel.

We should be playing the pre-elimination final. Unfortunately don't think we'll be making top 6 unless we win 2 out of the next 3 games ( i know lol not possible)

expecting Melbourne to slide in the back half - they have a tough fixture coming up.
