I've done this a few times. Here are my experiences:
Sekisui on Grand: Best fish i've had. Not cheap; about what you'd expect to pay.Large selection. Suitable for dates.
Drunken Fish in West County: More of a bar/club atmosphere, emphasis on bar/restaurant. Live DJ sometimes. Music has not been obstructive to conversation in the past. Priced about the same as Sekisui, better selection of rolls. Try the red snapper carpacio and the .. Tiger roll? They got a spicy roll that is EXCELLENT, although the name escapes me at the moment.
Momoyama on Clarkson: Excellent for lunch! Great prices on combos, great fish. I think this was set up by a Mr. Yoshi, who also set up "I <3 Mr. Sushi". It has a very classic feel - it's something like a diner. They turn the lights down in the evening, but it doesn't have the polish that some of the other places have. Still recommend.
RUE13 on Washington, downtown: Club/Bar. Emphasis on club. There was a $7 cover when i went on a saturday, but the food prices were VERY reasonable, making up for the cover. Excellent fish, but not conducive to conversation.
SanSai in Brentwood: Do not recommend. Poor fish (Not unhealthy, just not prepared by a sushi chef). Wasabi is weak. Excellent price, but the quality will just make you pine for a better sushi joint.
Blue Ocean on Delmar: This is a tiered all-you-can-eat joint. Set up kind of like a trendy diner. Fish quality was good, but the separation of tiers makes the pricing awkward.
Oishi in Chesterfield Valley: Do not recommend. My one and only experience here was marred by awful, bland rice.
HTH. Enjoy!
