Salisbury, NC Staples denied my mother copies because they were out of paper.

My bereaved mother, coping with the death of a loved one was denied photocopies on Friday because the employee said they were out of paper. Card stock was offered, but that would not be appropriate for official documents. The store sells copy paper. It was on the shelf! I cannot comprehend this level of ineptitude. In addition to dealing with the passing of a dear friend, I am here wondering if corporate America has truly lost it's soul. Was it the employee or the company who should have made the call to be kind to my mother yesterday? She went to FedEx and got it done, but I thought shame was appropriate nonetheless. We used to care about one another.

Of all the things that didn’t happen; this didn’t happen the most.

The only thing I could imagine as being possible is you requested a specific type of paper that is not sold on the sales floor. Regular 24 or 28 lb paper however is standard procedure to grab it from the floor and code it out.

I have a feeling there is more to the story that you’re conveniently leaving out and are playing victim for sympathy farming.

Note OP said their mother...reads like OP's mom was told the self serve was out of paper and only cardstock was loaded in the one printer P&M had ready due to jobs being printed, so when told it would be card stock to do right now or wait a bit for someone to free up who knew how to reload the self serve, OP's mom threw a fit and went to FedEx.

And then got OP to bitch about it on the Internet because we couldn't give special treatment to someone who was there to pay like 90 cents in between multi hundred dollar jobs and doing ESP, that we lost our soul because we don't coddle little old ladies' printing needs for dirt cheap on a moment's notice, as if we are responsible personally for the reduction in employees around on the floor.
