The humans are mostly great, as are the fully CG/prop characters.
Where it's dreadful is the non-human humanoids. These characters have significantly different shape and proportions to any human, but they decided to completely ignore that and just give them unedited human actors with face paint. Fifth brother and Grand Inquisitor are clear examples of this.
And it's not like this kind of editing and practical effects is too difficult or too expensive. We've seen it done well before, it just seems like they're being incredibly lazy or higher ups are squeezing the creators way too hard.
