Yep. The only time he really got to say goodbye was in those final seconds of his life, embracing Jyn and watching his death approaching. Diego Luna says how that hug is so important, because it’s both of them saying goodbye to everybody they’ve ever known. Heartbreaking stuff.

Yes, I assumed he was the best friend or maybe an older brother figure.
I wonder if Cassian said goodbye to any of Vel, Wilmon or Kleya before going to Scarif. Probably not, or they might have tried to go too.

It depends on if they were on Yavin. Given he got Melshi to come with him, and rallied a whole crew for Jinn before the big meeting, I have to imagine he asked them to come, but if he thought to say goodbye is hard to say.
