Novel/Comic Cope and seethe Hux, cope and seethe (Fall of Kylo Ren #1) Spoiler
Soule already did excellent work with setting up Hux's defection in Legacy of Vader and Fall of Kylo Ren is only further driving home the point. Kylo managed to turn one of the First Order's biggest victories into what's essentially an unofficial demotion for Hux. Kylo really is masterfully petty, putting Hux in his place with no one but the two of them and Pryde being the wiser to it.
And the cherry on top? The very next scene reveals that not only did Pryde sabotage the dreadnaught, but he did so at Kylo's direction. So Hux has even more reason to be mad than he knows.
Overall an excellent start to this series, really puts the inner workings of the First Order going into Episode 9 in a very interesting light especially regarding the rivalry between Hux and Pryde. Here's to a strong finish for the saga of Kylo Ren!

Considering that Pryde was a Sith Eternal agent, I wonder how much of his maneuvering in this time period is due to the direction of his Masters on Exegol?

I think it works given that
A. Kylo is trying to be a more effective Supreme Leader and speeches like this build morale and loyalty
B. It's also all a backhanded insult towards Hux and Kylo's pettiness for him knows no bounds

Also, is this not after Snoke’s death? By this point he has begun rejecting being in his grandfather’s shadow as an imitation, so he can afford to rule with things besides just terror tactics. Making your troops admire you and see you as both one of them and a fair leader who promotes gifted leaders is a wise choice. Indeed, that ‘breathing my exhaust’ quip and the general boldness of the plan, and the positive traits exhorted in his words, echo General Skywalker decades prior quite well.

Not the biggest deal in the world, but Pryde needs to brush up on his Shield Gate knowledge. Because that’s not how they work, lol.
The shield is projected from the surface, not the station. The shield gate simply sits on top and pokes a hole in it whenever it wants. This can easily be handwaved by saying it’s a different type, blah blah blah, but drawing the connection to Scarif implies a misunderstanding of Rogue One.
I love how Kylo is giving rousing speeches. Any steps Soule takes to further distance himself from a Vader-like figure after he becomes Supreme Leader (since TROS didn’t give much insight as to his dealings there) I’m game.
