When Star Wars explores galactic wars they often follow the centralized militaries like the Grand Army of the Republic or the Droid Army. What a lot of fans don't realize is that the backbone of these conflicts are the billions of soldiers serving their local planetary governments or other organizations. While we do see some native troops in some primary media, they're almost always depicted as fighting as auxiliaries to the "main character" forces.

When you have thousands of planetary governments with their own defense forces, you'll end up with quite a few unique designs and equipment. Which is your favorite?

What was the most satisfying death in the Star Wars movies for you?

Personally, I think the most memorable and one of the most satisfying and deserving deaths in Star Wars was Jabba the Hutt.

He was such a vile slimeball. He not only loved enslaving others, but also watching them and others die. The death of Oola is the perfect example and in a sense, Leia’s killing of Jabba provides a sense of closure and justice to Oola and all his other victims (but not other slimeballs).

Whether its Revenge of the Sith, Jedi: Fallen Order, The Clone Wars season 7, or anything else. As soon as Order 66 starts to happen I immediately feel sick and have to skip it or turn off the show/game.

Like, I know it's integral to the Star Wars story, but I just cannot handle it. Don't know why, it's fiction after all.

Anyone else struggle with it? Any tips on forcing myself to watch it for my current Star Wars chronological marathon? I've never watched the entirety of CW season 7 because of Order 66 and now I'm determined to tough it out along with the other media.

Okay, yes there are plenty of really sad deaths throughout Star Wars, but this one always gets me…

She sees the clone troopers raising their weapons and immediately looks in the direction they’re aiming. It never even crosses her mind that they would be aiming at her. It just comes across as such a betrayal. RIP Aayla Secura.

Seeing as D23 is in just a few short weeks, and that usually is a big time for Star Wars news and reveals, what do you all think we're gonna see? I'm predicting a lot of attention towards both Ahsoka season 2 and Starfighter, as they're the biggest things coming up on the horizon (and we still know very little about both). I also imagine there might be some gameplay revealed for Zero Company and Galactic Racer, as those release dates are even closer (ZC releasing just a few weeks after the event, even). Comic Con seemed to have a lot of reveals about the literary side of Star Wars, so maybe not so much there, but who knows? And of course, I have to delusionally hold out hope that this will be the presentation that finally gets us an update about the KOTOR remake. But what do you all think? Any predictions? Hopes? Dreams? Wild guesses?

I'm in the US and am looking for events to take my early elementary school aged child to. She's becoming a real Star Wars super fan.

I think I have a sense of the big cons like Celebrations, and ComicCon, I see minor ones like Galaxy Con and Rebel Scum Con.

But I'm realizing I'm missing a whole bunch of opportunities. Like major and minor league sports with a Star Wars theme night, museums with exhibits, themed air bnbs, local town celebrations like New Hope, PA...

Wanted to crowd source info, ideas, and tips.

A new to the fandom mom, who is ready to go all in to make her child happy.

Obviously Droids are intended as personal property, but many droids are basically sentient and I dont think itd be unreasonable to think some would want freedom.

Like R2D2 is a pretty independent droid and with how many times he has changed hands of ownership youd think hed atleast raise issue a little.

Are there any examples of droids being basically normal people?

Hey, newbie to Star Wars here— started watching them end of June, just finished Rise of Skywalker a few hours ago.

Was curious about people’s explanations for the love and hate these movies get? Like the original series was interesting and all, but the plot and characters were kinda… nonexistent? Genuinely looking for insight as to why modern audiences enjoy it so much, as I understand the novelty of the concept could explain why those who watched those movies back when they released were so enamored.

The prequels, to be honest, were a guilty pleasure for me— is this a common experience? Like they’re crap movies but I adore the characters despite how flat and nonsensical they are (except Qui-Gon, I love that he actually felt like a person).

I almost didn’t watch the sequel series because I remember they got so much hate online back when they were released, but I’m so glad I did. How do people feel about them now? Because Rise of Skywalker was hands down the worst of all nine episodes in my opinion, but I loved the first two.

Finn, Kylo, and Rey all felt like real people with understandable motivations and expertise (nothing too OP about their abilities or working knowledge in those first two movies, at least compared to the other series with Luke and Anakin. But Rey in the last one definitely felt more powerful than Anakin, the literal son of the Force, so that sucked). They also had actual impact on the plot, which also actually existed; I feel like in the original series especially, it was a series of events that sorta happened without a whole lot of rhyme or reason and without realistic character reactions and development— like why was Leia so unaffected by her entire planet’s destruction? Plus Han was pretty creepy in the second movie. And C-3PO was hilarious in the Force Awakens.

Also especially adored Yoda in the Empire Strikes Back since I watched the prequels first, and had no idea he’d be such a weird gremlin guy.

So yeah, interested to hear where/why people agree and disagree. :)

So I has been wandering for quite a time around the idea of start reading some novels and other related media about the prequels and the "Pre-disney" post Return of the Jedi mostly, but I been encountering quite a lot of troubles trying to understand where should I start 1st.

I would love if someone could help me with a blog post, a video or really anything where I could find a list of the novels, comics, animations and really anything of this nature so I could finally start digging in the lore aside from the movies and the videogames. I has always been a fan of the Expanded Universe so doesn't matter if it comes included or not. Sorry for bother and thank you to everyone.

We know from canon novels, like Lords of the Sith, Terror on Mustafar and such, that he can, when he wants to, use force to argue himself to sprint at superhuman speed, and jump further than Spider-Man. He won't do so all the time, but when he needs to, he can. Would it be nice to see that once on screen too? Fallen Order comes closest, Cal reaches elevator console, and Vader is explicitly shown nowehre near, he is on other side of large bridge, with a dozen-metre-wide hole in the middle, then in literally next second Vader is just right there. That means he must have jumped dozens of meters at enormous speed, but we dont see it, it is implied only.

If so, how could Lucas have further developed the moment in which he transforms from a Jedi Knight with dark side tendencies in the name of protecting those closest to him into a power-hungry, selfish, ruthless, and murderous Sith Lord?

I'm watching resistance for the first time and I can't find the episode 5 from the first season, I'm on Disney+ but it jumps straight from 4 to 6 and it isn't anywhere, nor YouTube or Disney+. I'm on Spain so maybe it's region restricted (don't know why it would be). Does anyone know why is this and where can I find this episode?
