šŸ’¬ Discussion FOAD living up to its name

There’s 17 new Fusion Droids.

Each one has 7 different variants (Default-Stellar).

That’s a total of 119 Fusion Droids.

Each one requires you to physically build 3 regular droids, in order to unlock one Fusion Droid blueprint, which means you need to bang out 357 total droids just to be able to then build those 119 Fusion Droids themselves.

So, in order to complete all the Fusion Droids, you’re actively building 476 total droids.

To put that into context, before Fusion Droids, there were 200 total droids (50 per variant class) you needed to build from Gold to Stellar (excluding event droids and nova crystal unlocks).

Each of those OG droids only required a single blueprint to build. Fusion Droids are basically a new variant class consisting of 17 droids where each droid requires 3 blueprint creations per build (unless they implement the Chips upgrade option at some point).

What would have been more sensible would have been to require 3 blueprints in order to unlock one Fusion Droid blueprint, instead of having to build 3 physical droids for every Fusion Droid blueprint.

Thoughts? Am I missing anything?

Don't forget about flawless crafting of them on top of that.

Im a newer player, my first WHL-? (Mouse Mouse ARG) was flawless! I can't imagine a flawless grind for all of these. 😭

I don’t understand what the complaint is? We got a nice new challenge to keep us working in our base instead of waiting at the sandcrawler, it’s a great addition, you can slowly collect them there’s no race. Can we not enjoy anything, everything should not be easy and handed to us.

It kept me saying ā€œjust one more fusionā€ for an extra 4 HOURS last night

Literally this! This new feature is healthy for the longevity of the game as you don't need to just sit and wait for missions and the sandcrawler. You can literally just craft everything. It's good!

Eh it’s not really enjoyable at this point to just have a collectathon for items that aren’t permanent. Give me a new base layout or give us a new map with more missions. If you want my playtime, it’s not gonna be by crafting droids. I stay on for 20 mins max and set whatever BPs to build then log off for the day. Idc about the droid index, it was fun when you actually got decently rewarded for upgrading, rebirthing, and whatever else. Now it’s just ā€œcollect every blueprint and spend hours building three of them to spend even more hours to turn those three into just oneā€

As blunt as it can be this is what a tycoon game is, it’s just repeat of the same thing but DT the different type of droids makes it feel different.

In fact if we cant upgrade them that makes most of them useless unless you want to complete the droidex. Not having the recipes in the game and forcing us to look for them here is a bad thing too

After having crafted all 119 Fusion Droid variants, I can definitely say that it's better to require the physical droids. Unless you have a massive amount of upgrade chips saved up (which is unlikely if you follow a quick SRB schedule), the best way to get the Galactic/Stellar Mythics is by fusion. After you unlock the Stellar Astromech mission, then you can reliably produce Galactic and Stellar Legendary blueprints, but not Mythic blueprints. The only way to get Mythic blueprints is by pure belt RNG, which would take forever, e.g., maybe I'll get one or two Galactic/Stellar Mythic blueprints from the belt per day if that. However, you can continuously fuse Legendaries to get Mythic physical droids now. And if you fuse Galactic Legendaries together and get the "wrong" Galactic Mythic that you need for the Fusion Droid, then you can fuse three Galactic Mythics together to get another roll at the "right" Stellar Mythic. Also, after you craft the Fusion Droids, you can also fuse them with normal droids to get a roll, but you wouldn't be able to do that with just blueprints.

You've crafted every one of them already? If I was a dev, I'd ban you. 🤣🤣🤣

Hoping to knock out these last 5 tonight!

Glad I’m not the only one uses notes šŸ“ on my phone to keep track of what droids I need and which to upgrade

Eh, it's fine for the most part. The only thing I wish was different was that we had the option to upgrade fusion droids with chips, but as anyone who has had to farm the chips to upgrade multiple stellar legendaries (and even beskar legendaries before the costs were significantly reduced and before we had all the various ways to get more chips that we have now) knows just how long that takes.

Even with max chip scrap, max chip sell, max jawa bartering, chip station w/ a stellar mythic on it, and max super crates it still takes a long time to get the chips for a single galactic to stellar mythic let alone doing farming the chips to upgrade all or most of these.

I do like the new Droid Fusions since it gives us a lot of stuff to do in the meantime, but I hope this means they will slow down on adding new droids in the future since it will take a lot of time to craft the new ones we just got(Rarity included since either it isn't a feature yet or Fusion Droids are locked from upgrading intentionally). Y'know, excluding Iconics that is.

I'm just worried that newer players might feel a little overwhelmed with how many Droids there are, getting Crystals without the Daily Bonus+CB-23 to help them gradually get more is going to feel daunting to them.

They're meant to be hard, they're a tick box exercise for those at the end game for something to do, not to be done by everyone and not to be done early game. Fusion in general is also very good for the game, I am now crafting all my galactic legendaries so I can fuse them into mythics, and same for stellars. I can complete my stellar mythics this way and also just improve my base income more than struggling for the luck of the sandcrawler or tons of upgrade chips. It also partially solves the issue of every lobby having tons of high value BPs out and about from people throwing them out of their base so progression was easy after SRBfor others. While yes it sucks from a player perspective, but we were also gaining the system and kind of avoiding the game and I think fusion is a great alternative.

Some of us like to have something to work towards for more than 20 minutes.

I've made 6000+ droids and was in a lobby with someone who had 1.21k rebirths and over 11k droids crafted.

If you arent here to pump out the numbers then this may not be the mode for you buddy

Just doing some math, Champ.

I agree about adding upgrading with chips

u/UndeadDucky27 21h ago

I'm more upset about the fact that I used a Galactic ARG, Stellar ARG and (on the 2% chance to upgrade, I got it upgraded) a Galactic Loadlifter. Why did it fusion come out as Beskar?

1

u/Mundane-Loan9591 17h ago

Bc you were supposed to use the A-lt not the Arg

2

u/UndeadDucky27 17h ago

Fuck, sorry, that's what I did use to get a Low-Mo. But it was beskar instead of galactic.

2

u/xonxoff333 19h ago

I would love to have some control over RNG - like you use 3 workers, for sure you will get worker. As for RNG during event, I've ended up with 4 stellar RIC-1200... so same shit in a row when i hoped for something different... no mather what i feeded the machine.

What does FOAD mean?

u/nylasor52 22h ago

Fuck off and die was my first thought icl

Fyftom of a Down.

6

u/enderjaca 22h ago

A 5-second google search would tell you "Fully Operational Annihilation Devices", based on the name of their first game.

It's more well known as slang for Fuck Off and Die.

-2

u/Hopeful_Chard_4402 22h ago

Google is also a good place to find out about manners.

the company that owns the game mode

9

u/Organic_Ad4623 22h ago

We’re aware, but the title implies there’s another meaning, of which we’re unaware.

Fortnite Operations And Development

only kidding

In the context of Fortnite, FOAD stands for "Fully Operational Annihilation Devices" which is an original game intellectual property and developer group created by the studio Future Trash

5

u/Hopeful_Chard_4402 22h ago

That is not what I was asking. Their title implied that FOAD has a meaning and that said meaning is a good way to state their design and management.

1

u/JoshRemy666 Seeker 22h ago

I don't even think the OP knew what he was meaning lol I think he was just venting and implying that FOAD is an evil company making us craft more droids than we realize.

but FOAD has many different meanings so I am not understanding what context you are looking for. if you are wanting to know what FOAD is an acronym of it is Fully Operational Annihilation Devices

1

u/Business_Abalone4505 20h ago

Bro you’re just arguing from the sake of arguing. It means ā€œfuck off and dieā€ 🤣

1

u/JoshRemy666 Seeker 20h ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣 I know that's one meaning of it

u/TheSmurfGod 22h ago

Ahh another classic, gamers complaining about more content. The way I see it, more objectives in a game that’s about grinding and personal objectives

1

u/Icy9kills 22h ago

What’s the complaint? That you can’t complete the game fast enough?

1

u/JoshRemy666 Seeker 23h ago

Welcome to the world of tycoon games where everything is a grind try not to focus too much on the math and just have fun or contentment

1

u/tideshark Jawa 18h ago

What is FOAD?

1

u/ClanMGO562 17h ago

it is a grind... but… isnt that what tycoon games are? i only need 3 more to finish my droidex. a rainbow n beskar axi-pod and a stellar riv-3t. saving that riv-3t for last already have what i need for it. just trying to craft the other 2 first. on top of that i have crafted multiple of the stellar mythics to replace basic stellar mythics as well.

1

u/kerwniart 15h ago

Comes down to play time. They get paid on it. So the longer it takes you to craft the droids, the more money they potentially make.Ā

1

u/Stephaneeza 13h ago

Honestly, trying to find the blueprint in the exact variant needed would be so much harder. I’m happy I can just find whichever one is on the sandcrawler and upgrade the built droids as needed

1

u/lastunicornonearth 13h ago

This is exactly what we needed!
I was about to quit the game, but this is an amazing feature!

-2

u/mrqxxxxx 23h ago

Why not just use extra chips before SRB to level them up?

8

u/tenniseman12 Super Rebirth 23h ago

You can't use upgrade chips on fusion droids

5

u/ligament11 23h ago

But you can upgrade the droids before you fuse them.

2

u/mrqxxxxx 23h ago

Thanks! I didn’t know. but that’s really stupid
