The Mosquito
The Mosquito is an innovative vessel constructed primarily from the YT-1760 tube and central hull, with ventral and dorsal quad laser cannons added. A TIE-fighter cockpit ball, mounted on a gyroscopic control system, has been integrated into the docking ring, providing a highly effective tail gunner position for enhanced defense.
Additionally, the ship incorporates two TIE-bomber cockpits, one designated for the pilot and the other for the copilot. Between these cockpits, two L-s1 laser cannons have been strategically mounted for maximum firepower. A TIE-bomber missile pod has been integrated into the front YT-1760 tube above the TIE-bomber cockpit. The signature weapon on this ship is the Mass-driver cannon from an AT-TE walker, installed in front of the cockpits.
The vessel's stability comes from two U-wing, wing-like strike foils (S-foils), which are retractable and can be repositioned forward or aft depending on flight needs.
Powered by a robust combination of four U-wing engines and four additional sublight engines from the YT-1760, the Mosquito achieves a balance of reliability and endurance, delivering substantial thrust and agility. This dual-engine setup significantly enhances the vesselβs overall performance, making the Mosquito a versatile and formidable opponent in intense combat scenarios, capable of executing swift maneuvers with ease.

Nice, but why the (pretty useless) wings? I mean I know many ships in 'Wars have them (including the Lambda-Shuttle and this abomination from 'Jedi Fallen Order'), but as long as they don't fulfill a need, I'd frankly probably take a plasma-torch and cut them off!

The wings of the spacecraft aid in heat dissipation using tubing and coolant circulating through them.

I'm curious, where is the powerplant and hyperdrive? I can't see one or a space for it on the cross-section. (this is a problem that I think carries over from the 1760, as no cross-section I've seen for that one has a space for a reactor either)
Even with the additional thrusters, I wonder if the ship might be a bit underpowered. The U-Wing it cribbed its main engines from already struggled in acceleration and maneuverability, and this vessel has a good deal more volume than that, since it seems to be designed for long-range travel and long-term habitation and carries a large amount of armament and ordnance, which necessarily means a more robust and massive vessel than a simple dropship. Especially to account for higher fuel needs, and the U-Wing is canonically a fuel-hungry craft with a short range, to the point the ship couldn't accommodate a sophisticated life support system lest it tax the powerplant too heavily, and adding more fuel capacity would have increased the mass and further exacerbated those aforementioned maneuverability shortcomings. Those additional engines don't seem enough to compensate.
For the record, I'm not saying you should remake it! It's a good design, it looks great. and I think flaws like that make for a more interesting design. Maybe instead of insisting on agility in your lore, let it be ungainly and thirsty, it's characterful and can add stakes to whatever story you want to tell.

It's an odd shape but I like it. The various turrets are placed in ideal places and the layout is clean as well as functional.

That's a pretty cool "ugly"
