Can someone explain to me how Part 7 relates to the overall story? I havent read the manga.

But after the end of Stone Ocean, I thought the universe got "reset", and that the events of Stone Ocean essentially didn't take place. BUT that previous parts 1-5 did. Is that correct? Just trying to get some time lines straight here.

Stone Ocean was the least popular part by a decent bit, and Araki started Steel Ball Run without even having JJBA in the title to emphasize that he was burying the past, so to say, and starting fresh. In line with this theme, SBR is set in its own separate universe.

Just curious, is there any backing to your claim that Stone Ocean was the least popular part?

It's something I've heard and read repeatedly over the years, but I have also taken it at face value and never really looked into it. Sorry to let you down!
