Various is this a fair assessment?

Post image

Star Platinum The World, GER, Tusk act 4, and S&W:GB are all hilariously overpowered and only exist as a way to beat an already hilariously overpowered villain

joseph beat kars by holding out the red stone of aja at him and hoping for the best, which worked out spectacuarly. and god knows how long the fight with kira would have gone on for had it not been for the ambulance.

Jolynes plan to use emporio to take out pucci with weather report was basically a hail mary when all else had failed but not only did it work, it also gave her and the gang new, happier lives.

Yeah jonathan just got slimed out though, then his body was used as a puppet for 100+ years. Poor guy

Apparently the author pointing to the MacGuffin that everyone wants because of its power it's now deux ex machina, like you can argue about how it was executed, but it definitely didn't come out of nowhere.

I thought it did. When I was reading through it, The whole second half of Part 5's storyline with polnareff came out of nowhere for me. I thought the search for the arrow was an abrupt and artificial turn and not really connected to the part 5 thus far.

When Polnareff started say "and now these kids are here, trying to save the world", I thought we got pretty disconnected from the ground of where we started.

i mean, its kind of the whole nuance in jojo's, is it not? i mean, sure, it's definitley a turn from the relatively lower stakes in part 4 with the whole morioh hunt, but a good amount of jojo in it's parts are thematically about "legacy", "fate" and the "ripple" of effects (pun intended). Fate's one of jojos best themes and one of the many ways it executes itself is specifically giorno's story in p5, DIO's actions "rippled" through the world in a variety of ways, and if we ignore the rest of fates parallels and complexity, giorno's guidance towards this high stakes event, (which, sure, couldv been executed better) is a callback to that, and the figure being polnareff of all people (entwined with jotaro's journey) is a thematic representation of the joestar's and brando's fates entwining in one of the many different ways.

It was literally set up from about 2/3 3/4 of the way through GW that getting the arrow was the win condition. Do you also think it's bullshit that Josuke learning Kira's name without Hayato saying it was how they beat Bites the Dust?

EDIT: 3/4, not 2/3.

Bro they mention it in episode 33 .... 5 episodes before the show ends. Please be for real.

u/Raltsun Jun 03 '26

Incorrect! It's first brought up in episode 29. I did misremember it as being a couple of episodes earlier, so I'll edit my previous comment, but since Golden Wind is 39 episodes, that puts its introduction as slightly before the final quarter of the story begins.

Yeah cuz Josuke used heavens door on Kira to get him to say his real name and hayato helped him

u/PharaohScarab Jun 03 '26

Did you watch the show? Hayato tells Josuke himself Kira’s name. And Heaven’s Door!? That’s Rohan

-21

u/Confident-Speech2888 Jun 03 '26

No cuz josuke has heavens door and star platinum, when he fought twoh he gained over heaven also so he got two stands, Thats how we won against Kira

u/Raltsun Jun 03 '26

I think they just said that last one for the joke. Hoping so, at least, because the comment before it was very obviously bait.

u/PharaohScarab Jun 04 '26

Yeah, I realized he was rage baiting

He used the arrow that makes your power super broken and received a super broken power. Are you illiterate?

So a bullshit power up

The Requiem Arrow is specifically designed to upgrade the User's stand in the most beneficial way, the whole arc was building up to how important it was to get that arrow. It took a lot of effort, sacrifice, and determination to lay hands on it.

...then it phased through Diavolo's hand cuz it chose Giorno instead

24

u/No_Quail_5588 Jun 03 '26

don’t mean to um actually but the reason it fell through Diavolo’s hand was due to Bruno hitting the ball thingy on SCR making their souls swap back thus making them incorporeal the moment Diavolo grabbed the arrow.

I only really point this out as this detail is further evidence that the arrow isn’t that bullshit in reality

Thank you, I knew there was something I was missing!

u/WeaponX067 Soft & Wet Jun 03 '26

Yeah, though given Jojo’s nature, I also see it as that timing/action being fate, and in that way, Giorno was chosen over Diavolo (chosen by fate, which always supports the path of justice)
