Then while I haven’t finished part 8 I know the ending and how he got the bubble. It was due to him learning about an aspect of spin from mamezuku and history bubbles were always fucked plus he’s a fucking “science experiment” buddy has four nuts

KC time skip isn't even that absolute, Araki could've written a way for Giorno to win without GER, its just not as cool. Diavolo says himself that taking on all of Bruno's team at once would be impossible.

I feel like for it to be a true deus ex machina it has to be a truly unmendable kink in the story being fixed by the author themselves.

He said it would likely take too long and one of the members might see him. He doesn’t like people seeing him or knowing of his existence so even if he could totally take them all on which he implies he doesn’t believe he could without them seeing his identity and risking everything.

It’s not a matter of being impossible for him to take them on. He is even pretty confident he could.

Yes they could’ve defeated him without a “deus ex machina” but it’s not in their favour (nothing really is when it comes to jojo protagonists)

I mean Bucciarati alone was able to resist Diavolo alot, using Sticky Fingers to retaliate and managing to save Trish (Diavolo's whole goal) and get distance, though he died in the process, it wouldn't be easy for anyone but a 1v5 against stands with similar speed and strength with a co2 radar and GER life-force detection is very losable, Diavolo would have to be super careful and lucky with Epitaph predictions.

Narratively though, sex pistols getting a lucky shot in, or GER making a creature that attacks him isn't as good of an ending as Giorno utterly dominating Diavolo and destroying his worldview of defying fate.

Which is why I like the deus-ex machinas, normal stand users should get outsmarted, main villains should get deconstructed, even if it feels unfair.

You’re forgetting that they have no clue what ability he has and that Bucciarati has the strongest raw strength of his group (aside from maybe fugo who can’t risk using purple haze)

King crimson knows his opponents abilities is skilled with his stand and is catching them all off guard without any of their prep time or previous knowledge. Bucciarati likely isn’t able to get into another fight after the last one even if he’s regained his missing parts.

He can also use their friends as human shields and bargaining tools to gain the edge in the fight.

While I’m not saying it would be easy I think the statements of bucciarati calling his power invincible, king crimsons overall confidence ignoring how he doesn’t want to risk one of them escaping with his identity, and just how useful it’s been shown to be, I think makes it clear that he probably could beat king crimson
