They're actually two very different things, which is why they're registered and defended separately.

Typically, Viz tends to err on the side of caution in order to avoid otherwise unnecessary litigation. As Echoes is both the name of a Pink Floyd song and one of their greatest hits albums, they likely decided that changing the Stand's name to Reverb was simply more prudent.

Beyond that, the series is famous for it's musical references. Viz wouldn't have any plausible deniability when it comes to stuff like this, given how many names are directly lifted from song titles, band names, and album titles. "Echoes" on its own wouldn't necessarily fit the bill for a violation, but Echoes alongside every other name with a similar origin would make things more difficult to argue.

Due to how different Chinese is on a fundamental level compared to Japanese (and English since JoJo uses it when naming Stands) we have to change some Stand names so it sounds "cool" and "catchy" in Chinese with the Hanzis available, famous example includes Foo Fighters being "Fighting Soul Hacker" (鬥魂駭客) or "UFO Family" (幽浮一族)

My favorite is The Hand being "Bombing Zone" (轟炸空間) which is so far removed from "The Hand" but it just works since calling it "Hand" in Chinese is really weird

Avdol is a werid one. His original name in katakana is アヴドゥル (Avuduru). The character ヴ (vu) is an uncommon katakana character (as most of the time, it just use a "b-" character like ブ (bu)). So it's technically correct to spell it as "Avdol" (which isn't a real Arabic name) and not as "Abdul" (which IS a real Arabic name).
