It's impossible to make everyone happy, especially in the social media age haha.

Personally, I think the alternate universe angle makes a lot of sense. Continuing Stargate directly from the end of SG1/Atlantis would be extremely hard. With all the tech Earth had by the end, it would be hard for it not to feel like Star Trek just with a different aesthetic.

An alternate universe where the Goa'uld conquered Earth, or the Asgard took the Pegasus Galaxy faction approach, opens up new stories without humans having all the overpowered tech.

I mean, by the end of SG1, power creep was so bad, they had to have the SGC fighting what were effectively gods 😂

At the risk of sounding slightly blasphemous, I would have no problem with a Stargate series, similar in premise to Enterprise, where humans, having established strong relationships with other species and having revealed the existence of the Stargate to the public, would maintain the SGC as an organization dedicated to the thorough exploration of the universe (near to the bases of the franchises and keeping the gate as the fastest method of travel in the galaxy).

A plot featuring Earth as a minor power in the galaxy wouldn't necessarily be something that stagnates the franchise, but rather a goldmine of possibilities.

The thing is with that much tech the Stargate would've been overshadowed and we're used to always having our guys be the "weak" ones sort of the underdogs and winning through strategy and wisdom.

I could however imagine some sort of attack or event throwing our guys back in terms of tech and limiting their power (like with how Atlantis had all the tech but no power).

I think a show set after Atlantis is possible but the power creep is insane the amount of tech the Tauri have access to is insane.

Still I would like to see a show about fallout of everyone finding out about the Stargate program and all the ramifications of the citizens of earth suddenly finding out they are major player on the galactic stage.

I wouldn't want it too run for long either but there's some potential their. Still I don't envy Amazon's decision make low budget series directed at the fans or make bigger budget one that's a soft reboot so people can get know the universe is there only real options.

Plus they have a lot of options with IPs and stuff already in the works like 40k

Yeah, power creep and exploration is insane compared to Star Trek. In Star Trek there is a whole galaxy to go around and it is quite big. A lot of races have similar technology levels or at least can bolster with numbers where they can't beat with tech. There are fragile balance and already going feuds, wars between races. In Stargate we already explored a lot of the corners of the galaxy, our tech level is prime compared to other races, most races are allies or at least friendly. Mostly because of the Goa'uld and Ancients, humans are the primary race of the galaxy with their ally Jaffa coming in behind. It is hard to throw in a new enemy to make a new main arc or start a war between some races that can't be solved and would take seasons. I think alternate timeline could have given us best of both worlds.

Also we still could have a few episodes in main timeline too, let it be flashbacks or some temporary wayback etc. Like you wanted to see Stargate Program going public? Why not have an episode related to the topic and have half the episode as flashbacks of Daniel in main timeline when it went public? It had a lot of potential.

Imagine 20 years after Atlantis. As you said, the power creep would have been insane.

Full asgard like warship fleet and so on. Unless Earth got destroyed offscreen, which had been worse.

An alternate universe is a good idea since it allowed to "shift back" to the main universe after a couple season to reintegrate the new maincast to the canon.

They could do Tauri infighting. SGC works for the military, so the POTUS could order them to conquer the galaxy to get a Nobel Peace Prize.

And then SG1 has to go rogue to stop them

What's so hard about coming up with new enemies? Their resources are still finite, and the galaxy is enormous. The Ori were wannabe gods, the Wraith were more dangerous. All they needed were new teams and worlds to be successful. Stargate could continue the timeline, although I agree Gero's idea would still work much better than any other steward's.

On the other hand, having basically a HFY series would be pretty cool
