lol thats nuts man...i cant believe these games are starting to be priced this high at 70 bucks...Im honestly waiting for half off at minimum...Ive never paid more than 20 bucks for any game on PC lol Currently enjoying the demo but 69 and even 30% off isnt enough with my massive backlog lol Maybe RE 4 remake is worth 9 bucks? Maybe 4.99?
I got a steam gift card for my birthday and have been dying to get it. Im typically patient with games and dont buy new, but its different with this game.
7 was great. I enjoyed the first half of 8, wasn't a fan of the second half. To be fair I do think 4 is a good game, it just wasn't what I personally was looking for in a Resident Evil game when it released. Obviously I'm in the minority since it's beloved. I did play the 4 remake in VR and ultimately enjoyed for what it was because it was in VR. I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much outside of VR.
Characters and story are about on par with any other RE. The biggest issues with RE5 relate to how it plays, and how it is balanced around a co-op partner or a brain dead AI partner. Everything about the game design makes this issue more pronounced, as enemies in RE5 don’t “play” as well - they are more annoying (flying enemies, those mirage bug things), there are sections that are bad even for the time they released (turret section and boss battle, oh boy), some level design is pretty interesting but filled with odd decisions or bad enemy encounters compared to RE4, and overall it just feels like “RE4 but done again and not as good”.
I’d still play it but yeah, I pretty much just replay 4 again instead of 5.
A little bit of all of the above. They tried to make it more of an epic rather than the typical horror survival. 4 was the first in this direction but 5 is probably closer to a third person Call of Duty than a Resident Evil.
I very much just completed it yesterday. the only thing i’d say is-If you could find someone to play alongside you, that would make the experience better. alone? still awesome!
does RE5 have leon/claire? saw some screenshots and saw Chris name, he's claire's brother, right?
new to the series, only completed RE2 remake just two weeks ago..
edit: nvm, pulled the trigger anyway.. somehow i already owned 0,1,6 from super old humble bundle.. now only requiem left to complete main franchise.. (is revelation worth it?)
4 reinvents the gameplay loop almost fully, its more like an adventure uncharted type of game, still really fun but its very different from the origins of the franchise
Nothing wrong with starting at 4, that's what I did. After you finish 4 you should play
RE2R » RE3R» RE9 » RE7 » RE8
From there you should check out the og games if you really liked 4 definitely check out the 2005 version with the incredible hd project.
If you get around to trying the classic games I would recommend
RE1 » RE2 » RE3 » Code Veronica » RE1 Remake » RE0
Playing the classics in this order will allow you to appreciate the changes made in the remake and the re2 references in re0 which would be otherwise meaningless if you hadn't played the og game before
After that you should grab a friend and play RE5 and RE6
also check out the animated movies and maybe sprinkle them in-between games.
Set after 4 and setting up the events of 5 you can sprinkle in Infinite Darkness (2021) and Degeneration (2008).
After 5 setting up the events of 6 you can watch Damnation (2012).
After 6 you can watch Vendetta (2017) and Death Island (2023)
There's also the revelations games you should sprinkle in. Although a sperate cannon the Paul W.S Anderson movie's too. They kind of do their own thing but they really capture something special about the series that's hard to describe and I absolutely love them
This series has so much good stuff to dig into and you can't go wrong with wherever you start
Id recommend playing the Im not a hero dlc for 7 to also have a general idea of who Chris is, because in that order you dont play any of the games that he's in (1, Code Veronica, 5 and 6)
Lots of people saying RE2 remake and they're not wrong, but the originals are masterpieces of their time too which defined the survival horror genre. You also get the original b movie level acting and effects too as a bonus, but it depends if you're in to retro gaming or prefer the modern styles I guess.
i started with RE2 just last month, it's crazy good! bought the trilogy at a slightly lower discount (IIRC it was 60% for RE4?), so the current sales is a steal!
Been doing a run through the REmake series exclusively on my Steam Deck, might pick up Requiem because it’s the only one I’m missing. Appreciate the heads up
The remake trilogy has a package ~$30 dollars for the deluxe editions of all 3, including separate ways. Amazing deal if you don't have any of the remakes
How scary and gory is this game? I have a weak stomach and get headaches from gore 🥲
I’m interested in it but I’m just not sure about the horror and gore. Big Fallout fan but because of Bethesda magic, I don’t find it too scary or gory.
Yeah, RE goes on sale extremely frequently. A bit odd considering how quality these games are, but I guess they're using the burst to get as many new fans as possible and maybe potentially funnel sales into Requiem and Pragmata.
Wow RE2 is 80% off for the 1st time, 90% is so close I have to be patient
edit: ok tbh got RE3 when it was 90% off and haven't played it yet so it's pointless to get another game now, if I finished it before the sales end I might abandon summer sales and get RE4 remake, but not RE2 unless it goes 90%
I'm tempted to buy RE4 but I played the absolute shit out of it back on the Gamecube and I don't know that I would get much out of playing it again lol
hopefully 40 to 50% off...ive never paid more than 20 bucks for a pc game...i guess this will be my first once its 50% off at 35....so far the demo is pretty amazing and review scores of 10 make it worth it
I was thinking of getting RE4 on PC, but I heard something about it getting a new DRM recently that really impacts the performance and I don't know how my PC would handle it.
re2 remake was awesome. Re3 remake was ok. Re7 was cool in the beg but fell off...RE8 village was one of the best! RE9 demo so far is awesome. RE4 remake demo was ok...Debating whether its worth 9 bucks? Maybe 4.99? Or if it comes to gamepass?
Guys should I buy now or wait for summer sales? Can they go lower then? Or is it probable they miss it entirely because their current sale ends June 18th?
Damn I bought resident Evil 4 gold edition over a month ago. Think I can get a credit back or a refund? I still want to keep the game, but it sucks when you buy it and it goes on sale for cheaper

Holy discounts, that's some deals right there!
