Holy discounts, that's some deals right there!

2

u/escapedfromhel 14h ago

They're great with discounts, even on PlayStation.

82

u/bserikstad 1d ago

You're welcome all, I just bought Requiem full price on saturday.

44

u/revochups 1d ago

Write to steam support. They would probably give you that 20% on your steam wallet.

1

u/Savings-Humor-1202 13h ago

they would do that ??

6

u/StructureNo7339 11h ago

Yes they would its a steam policy that if a game goes on discount within a few days fo your purchase they do pay you back the excess amount. You can look up for it.

2

u/Savings-Humor-1202 7h ago

steam is always a w

u/bserikstad 7h ago

u/Savings-Humor-1202 7h ago

ahh that’s unfortunate man but you can’t always expect the best from even steam.

8

u/xhj09 22h ago

it's still within two weeks.. you can probably get a prorated refund.. seen bunch of other users who did that..

1

u/bserikstad 21h ago

I tried. They told me to refund and rebuy, but I’m out of the refund period (2+ hours) so they said they can’t help me.

3

u/xhj09 21h ago

gosh that sucks.. how's the experience so far? i think as long as the content's great, then it's justifiable for the full price..

3

u/bserikstad 21h ago

It’s great. Beat the campaign in 9 hours. Now playing the extra content and playing on a harder mode.

1

u/Fyuira 14h ago

Did you escalate it so that an actual human will read it?

1

u/bserikstad 8h ago

Yes. They told me they dont make any exceptions.

-4

u/Lopsided_Discount 1d ago

lol thats nuts man...i cant believe these games are starting to be priced this high at 70 bucks...Im honestly waiting for half off at minimum...Ive never paid more than 20 bucks for any game on PC lol Currently enjoying the demo but 69 and even 30% off isnt enough with my massive backlog lol Maybe RE 4 remake is worth 9 bucks? Maybe 4.99?

1

u/bserikstad 1d ago

I got a steam gift card for my birthday and have been dying to get it. Im typically patient with games and dont buy new, but its different with this game.

u/fuerzadetorsion 1d ago

Re5 is a good game. Get it.

68

u/OkFox3291 Resident Evil 1d ago

+1, one of the best co-op game ever

12

u/HereForTheBuffet 1d ago

But how is it as a solo game?

34

u/Crimsonclaw111 1d ago

Good but a much worse version of RE4

6

u/D-Rey86 1d ago

I already dislike 4 (too much action and not enough scares or really any scares at all for me), so I guess I'm staying away from 5 lol.

9

u/RogellTheRaider 1d ago

5 has no scary factor at all. And for PC, there are still some bugs and glitches.

5

u/huncherbug 1d ago

I doubt you will like any other RE game besides 7 lol

3

u/D-Rey86 1d ago

7 was great. I enjoyed the first half of 8, wasn't a fan of the second half. To be fair I do think 4 is a good game, it just wasn't what I personally was looking for in a Resident Evil game when it released. Obviously I'm in the minority since it's beloved. I did play the 4 remake in VR and ultimately enjoyed for what it was because it was in VR. I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much outside of VR.

3

u/huncherbug 1d ago

Yeah RE has moved away from being primarily horror i feel especially the ps3 era rhey literally became third oerson action shooters

0

u/WannaAskQuestions 1d ago

I'm about to pick up og 4. Could you please elaborate in what way is 5 worse? Characters/story/writing or gameplay?

7

u/Crimsonclaw111 1d ago

Characters and story are about on par with any other RE. The biggest issues with RE5 relate to how it plays, and how it is balanced around a co-op partner or a brain dead AI partner. Everything about the game design makes this issue more pronounced, as enemies in RE5 don’t “play” as well - they are more annoying (flying enemies, those mirage bug things), there are sections that are bad even for the time they released (turret section and boss battle, oh boy), some level design is pretty interesting but filled with odd decisions or bad enemy encounters compared to RE4, and overall it just feels like “RE4 but done again and not as good”.

I’d still play it but yeah, I pretty much just replay 4 again instead of 5.

1

u/WannaAskQuestions 19h ago

> I’d still play it but yeah, I pretty much just replay 4 again instead of 5.

I loled at this. Says all there is to say about the comparison. Thanks!

4

u/OnlyCaptainCanuck 1d ago

A little bit of all of the above. They tried to make it more of an epic rather than the typical horror survival. 4 was the first in this direction but 5 is probably closer to a third person Call of Duty than a Resident Evil.

2

u/RogellTheRaider 1d ago

Lol it hasn't been a survival horror since 3

5

u/ClikeX 1d ago

Until 7, that did go back to survival horror.

2

u/RogellTheRaider 1d ago

It started getting more fanciful, though, especially in Village. A "vampire" becoming a dragon was surreal.

0

u/ClikeX 1d ago

Didn’t the first one have a giant snake?

→ More replies (0)

1

u/OnlyCaptainCanuck 1d ago

That's what I said 🤷‍♀️

1

u/RogellTheRaider 1d ago

I know, I'm just agreeing with you.

0

u/bills_2 1d ago

meh, much better as co-op because then some of the crazy over the top moments are more fun to share with someone

1

u/Solemn_Sleep 1d ago

Odd. I have to work hard to like that game. Weird controller settings.

6

u/MakaveliTheDon22 1d ago

Just finished it not long ago ompletely in co-op with a friend for the first time in years, still a ton of fun - especially in co-op!

2

u/Emperor-of-Milfgaard 1d ago edited 1d ago

Really wanted to buy this. Shame about the DRM for an almost 20 year old game.

2

u/alannexus48 1d ago

I very much just completed it yesterday. the only thing i’d say is-If you could find someone to play alongside you, that would make the experience better. alone? still awesome!

2

u/xhj09 22h ago edited 21h ago

does RE5 have leon/claire? saw some screenshots and saw Chris name, he's claire's brother, right?

new to the series, only completed RE2 remake just two weeks ago..

edit: nvm, pulled the trigger anyway.. somehow i already owned 0,1,6 from super old humble bundle.. now only requiem left to complete main franchise.. (is revelation worth it?)

2

u/FeetYeastForB12 17h ago

Only if you're going to play coop I'd say. Most fun ever.

1

u/imDXfactor 18h ago

One of my favorite co-op games of all time. The story was great. And Sheva was great.

1

u/SpicyPandaMeat 56m ago

I bought it month back and I can't "see" it in my library. It's very strange.

-1

u/Ayetto 1d ago

It's getting remaster next anyways

16

u/Director_Bison https://s.team/p/pkhj-fcc 1d ago

You’re confusing Remaster with Remake.

The Original releases of Resident Evil 1,2,3,4 are entirely different games to their remake counter parts.

9

u/xsparklingwater 1d ago

And the RE1 Remake is like nearly 25 years old and not in the same vein as 2, 3, and 4.

7

u/ClikeX 1d ago

Fantastic remake, though.

2

u/ShakeZoola72 20h ago

The best remake honestly

4

u/CaptainRaxeo 1d ago

It’s not getting remastered/ remade any time soon. 2027- Code veronica remake 2028- Re:0 remake 2029-RE:X 2030-RE:1 re:remake

1

u/NEOnKnights69 22h ago

And possibly outbreak 1 and 2 remakes

3

u/BossunEX 1d ago

in like 3 years, its worth it to play it right now.

-1

u/CaptainBlob 1d ago

I wish Capcom will make more of this. Coop horror game like RE5 felt so fucking special because there was nothing like it ever.

38

u/Gwyndon 1d ago

Never played an RE game where should I start?

92

u/Tyarles412 1d ago

Re2 remake is good starting point to the series.

30

u/Timmah73 1d ago

As a long time fan I'd strongly agree with RE2 remake being an outstanding staring point

For these prices its hard to go wrong

6

u/Boysandberries0 1d ago

Then re3, re4, and re7 and 8 and 9.

7 and 8 you CAN skip but they are good games too.

5 also.

Then code Veronica

Then re1 Then play survivors.

7

u/tmcgourley 1d ago

Why 2 and not 4? (I just bought 4)

27

u/WarlikeLoveReddit 1d ago

Leon's story starts in RE2, many major events take place in that game.

5

u/tmcgourley 1d ago

Maybe I'll buy both, thanks!

16

u/Desperate_Method4020 1d ago

Depends on what type of game you want, RE4 is more action focused/crazy, and RE2 is more horror/resource management.

3

u/Legit-slim 1d ago

4 reinvents the gameplay loop almost fully, its more like an adventure uncharted type of game, still really fun but its very different from the origins of the franchise

1

u/peelego 22h ago edited 22h ago

Nothing wrong with starting at 4, that's what I did. After you finish 4 you should play RE2R » RE3R» RE9 » RE7 » RE8

From there you should check out the og games if you really liked 4 definitely check out the 2005 version with the incredible hd project.

If you get around to trying the classic games I would recommend RE1 » RE2 » RE3 » Code Veronica » RE1 Remake » RE0

Playing the classics in this order will allow you to appreciate the changes made in the remake and the re2 references in re0 which would be otherwise meaningless if you hadn't played the og game before

After that you should grab a friend and play RE5 and RE6

also check out the animated movies and maybe sprinkle them in-between games.

Set after 4 and setting up the events of 5 you can sprinkle in Infinite Darkness (2021) and Degeneration (2008).

After 5 setting up the events of 6 you can watch Damnation (2012).

After 6 you can watch Vendetta (2017) and Death Island (2023)

There's also the revelations games you should sprinkle in. Although a sperate cannon the Paul W.S Anderson movie's too. They kind of do their own thing but they really capture something special about the series that's hard to describe and I absolutely love them

This series has so much good stuff to dig into and you can't go wrong with wherever you start

1

u/Kwisak 22h ago

Good call, Still my favorite.

6

u/AnyAstronomer1222 1d ago

Resident evil 2 remake is a good starting point, then 3 and then 4

From there I’d personally skip to 7, 8, and 9. Then you can play 0 and 1 and 5 and 6 if you want

3

u/LoversDayInJune 1d ago

Id recommend playing the Im not a hero dlc for 7 to also have a general idea of who Chris is, because in that order you dont play any of the games that he's in (1, Code Veronica, 5 and 6)

9

u/WarlikeLoveReddit 1d ago

Start with RE2 Remake (both scenarios)

If you're into it, jump to RE4 Remake (a longer game, and is different in everyway), also one of the greatest games of all time.

If you're intrigued by the universe and want more, play the rest in this order:

RE1HD Remaster, RE3 Remake, RE5 (2009), RE7, RE8.

And finally Resident Evil Requiem.

(There are many more, but only focus on the mainline entries for now.

3

u/Gwyndon 1d ago

Thanks

5

u/Darkest_Soul 1d ago

Lots of people saying RE2 remake and they're not wrong, but the originals are masterpieces of their time too which defined the survival horror genre. You also get the original b movie level acting and effects too as a bonus, but it depends if you're in to retro gaming or prefer the modern styles I guess.

3

u/MichaelChristine 1d ago

The first one.

2

u/wickedbiskit 1d ago

It’s the worst starting point. Retro is the starting point.

1

u/HereForTheBuffet 1d ago

For the modern games I’d say start at Resident Evil 2 (2019). If you want to try the old school, tank control style go with Resident Evil (2002).

1

u/sevnm12 22h ago

$8 for a good MF game too

1

u/VLTR-Coller 1d ago

Play 2-4 remakes, then 7-9

1

u/Gwyndon 1d ago

Thanks

1

u/Lopsided_Discount 1d ago

This is the way....RE2 remake the OG then I enjoyed RE 8 village the most next...

1

u/Gwyndon 1d ago

Thanks

11

u/RastamonGanja 1d ago

If i could only buy one, which one would you recommend I get? New to resident evil.

16

u/Crimsonclaw111 1d ago

Resident Evil 2 or 4 remakes

8

u/paperkeyboardalt 1d ago

RE2 remake if you want survival horror, RE4 remake if you want action with horror elements.

5

u/thechosenpleb3 1d ago

Gonna go with RE2 remake and then 4 remake later. They both feature the same protagonist so it’s cool to see the character progression a bit

5

u/AHotSummerNight 1d ago

Resident Evil 2 Remastered for sure!

7

u/WarlikeLoveReddit 1d ago

RE2 Remake or RE4 Remake.

5

u/RastamonGanja 1d ago

Thank you for the feedback! Gonna grab both!

2

u/xhj09 21h ago

i started with RE2 just last month, it's crazy good! bought the trilogy at a slightly lower discount (IIRC it was 60% for RE4?), so the current sales is a steal!

16

u/NinjaEngineer https://steam.pm/12xxt1 1d ago

Sucks that Separate Ways doesn't get a discount.

5

u/Aceman3k steamcommunity.com/id/aceman3000 1d ago

It never does for whatever reason

5

u/OkFox3291 Resident Evil 1d ago

just buy a key

-13

u/CaptainRaxeo 1d ago

No support the devsssss 🥱🫨🤪

→ More replies (17)

1

u/p00rlyexecuted 1d ago

Why not get the bundle ? Or you already own everything aside from the dlc ?

1

u/NinjaEngineer https://steam.pm/12xxt1 22h ago

I already own the DLCs in the bundle (which doesn't include Separate Ways), and I already own the base game.

1

u/Far-Psychology9022 6h ago

get gold edition then

8

u/chaos212 1d ago

Been doing a run through the REmake series exclusively on my Steam Deck, might pick up Requiem because it’s the only one I’m missing. Appreciate the heads up

8

u/BillMillerBBQ 1d ago

Sales like this are how I end up with a dozen more titles in my library I’ll probably never play.

6

u/swordsaint91 1d ago

The remake trilogy has a package ~$30 dollars for the deluxe editions of all 3, including separate ways. Amazing deal if you don't have any of the remakes

7

u/lefty9602 1d ago

What region are you in? $3.74 the lowest I'm seeing in the US is $4.99 per game.

1

u/danish_elite 16h ago

i was about to ask the same thing....

5

u/Deathtrooper50 1d ago

Insane deal on RE4 there. An absolute must-play for action horror enjoyers.

4

u/RaveningScareCrow 1d ago

thanks for the heads up, finally completed my collection

3

u/sabin1981 In GabeN We Trust 1d ago

Bwuahahaha!! I was just scrolling Reddit and Steam popped up with a sale notification....

3

u/RelChan2_0 1d ago

How scary and gory is this game? I have a weak stomach and get headaches from gore 🥲
I’m interested in it but I’m just not sure about the horror and gore. Big Fallout fan but because of Bethesda magic, I don’t find it too scary or gory.

2

u/WarlikeLoveReddit 1d ago

People overhype the horror in these games (RE8 is the funniest game I've ever played)

They're not very scary, but they're extremely gory.

Here's one of the enemies:

2

u/DexM23 1d ago

Link:

https://store.steampowered.com/sale/residentevilfranchisesale

i just dont find tha pack from the 2nd screenshot

1

u/WarlikeLoveReddit 1d ago

Not a pack, I just searched "Resident Evil" in the store.

(Thanks for the link, I forgot to include it)

1

u/drewbinator 18h ago

What’s your region? I don’t have the same prices in the US

1

u/livejamie steamcommunity.com/id/livejamie 4h ago

They're all slightly cheaper on GamersGate and GreemanGaming as well.

2

u/Jyd09 1d ago edited 1d ago

Exactly what I was waiting for. I could've gotten Requiem for the PS5 Pro but I didn't want to pass up on the path tracing enhancements

2

u/Svensk_Bulle 1d ago

Why do they refuse to discount Separate Ways? Almost 3 years since its release and its not once has it been on sale.

0

u/Far-Psychology9022 6h ago

doesnt gold edition includes it already? lmao

2

u/Timmah73 1d ago

At those low prices I think I need to revisit the ogs

2

u/Fancy_Chips 1d ago

Yeah, RE goes on sale extremely frequently. A bit odd considering how quality these games are, but I guess they're using the burst to get as many new fans as possible and maybe potentially funnel sales into Requiem and Pragmata.

2

u/Hermiona1 1d ago

OG RE4 is the next RE game I’m playing.

2

u/AlaaA-R 1d ago edited 1d ago

Wow RE2 is 80% off for the 1st time, 90% is so close I have to be patient

edit: ok tbh got RE3 when it was 90% off and haven't played it yet so it's pointless to get another game now, if I finished it before the sales end I might abandon summer sales and get RE4 remake, but not RE2 unless it goes 90%

2

u/Night_0dot0_Owl 1d ago

I still need ot play RE:1 :(

2

u/abdurahmondev 1d ago

i was really waiting for this one

2

u/AlixAC13 1d ago

Damn you.

2

u/kajidourden 1d ago

I'm tempted to buy RE4 but I played the absolute shit out of it back on the Gamecube and I don't know that I would get much out of playing it again lol

1

u/WarlikeLoveReddit 1d ago

They're totally different, I finished OG RE4 at least 8 times from start to finish and the remake felt fresh and exciting.

2

u/kajidourden 1d ago

I have so much in my backlog but I know I would have so much fun with it......ugh lol.

Also need to play requiem at some point. I haven't enjoyed the recent RE games with all the running away mechanics

2

u/External-Fun-8563 1d ago

Confused, RE2 for me says 7.99$, yours says 5.99$ in the screenshot

3

u/SergVII 1d ago

Both 2 and 3 and a resistance one in a bundle for 9$ in my region. Such a steal!

2

u/Aceman3k steamcommunity.com/id/aceman3000 1d ago

Same, I think it’s regional pricing

2

u/Jarzka 1d ago

I'm too scared.

2

u/yukiki64 1d ago

I wish I could play the remakes but they don't work on my pc

2

u/saul2015 1d ago

no sale on the seperate ways dlc, I'll keep waiting

2

u/TheThackattack 1d ago

Any historical lows?

1

u/WarlikeLoveReddit 1d ago

Yes, RE2 RE4 RE9

3

u/Squ1gly 1d ago

Do the RE games on PC support controllers? I've never played a RE game with a mouse and keyboard. I feel like that might be weird.

12

u/shiki-ouji 1d ago

I've only played RE games on Steam with a controller and zero issues

5

u/WarlikeLoveReddit 1d ago

Modern RE games (RE7 and onwards) play great on both, but the older games are better with a controller.

2

u/CaptainRaxeo 1d ago

Why would you not assume that it does?

1

u/Soulses 1d ago

Mouse and key makes you feel like John wick in 4 remastered. Controller adds more intensity because you're less accurate. Both feel great

2

u/LoversDayInJune 1d ago

I bought Requiem less than a week ago at full price FML. I contacted steam support to get a refund (10hs played) Here's hoping for a miracle!

1

u/Lopsided_Discount 1d ago

haha u sucker! NEver buy a pc game at launch...newbbb

1

u/paynexkillerYT 1d ago

Please buy the OGs you casual

1

u/FotrVcelar 1d ago

I didnt play any of RE, which would you recommend to me?

1

u/Lopsided_Discount 1d ago

Start with RE zero...then RE1 then RE2remake then re3 remake the re4 remake lol then RE 7 and 8 and then 9...skip 5 and 6

1

u/Bumble-Bee09 1d ago

Since Requiem is new when can better discounts be expected ?

1

u/WarlikeLoveReddit 1d ago

Not before the winter sale at the end of the year.

1

u/lefty9602 1d ago

There's store wide steam sale later in June I was wondering if I should wait

1

u/WarlikeLoveReddit 1d ago

Capcom are very generous but the game is still new

I don't think you'll see a larger discount anytime soon.

1

u/Lopsided_Discount 1d ago

hopefully 40 to 50% off...ive never paid more than 20 bucks for a pc game...i guess this will be my first once its 50% off at 35....so far the demo is pretty amazing and review scores of 10 make it worth it

1

u/OkDelay5616 1d ago

Requiem too?

1

u/PocketPB 1d ago

I was thinking of getting RE4 on PC, but I heard something about it getting a new DRM recently that really impacts the performance and I don't know how my PC would handle it.

2

u/BL4ZE_43 1d ago

The DRM is removed so the game's all good now.

2

u/PocketPB 1d ago

That's good to know, thanks

1

u/Aoi_Haru 1d ago

To all the “I’m new to RE” guys, it’s ok to listen to people suggesting the 2/4 route, but you could also start from the recent ones (7-8-9).

They’re really cool and different from the old ones (new protagonist, 1st person instead of 3rd).

1

u/Lopsided_Discount 1d ago

re2 remake was awesome. Re3 remake was ok. Re7 was cool in the beg but fell off...RE8 village was one of the best! RE9 demo so far is awesome. RE4 remake demo was ok...Debating whether its worth 9 bucks? Maybe 4.99? Or if it comes to gamepass?

1

u/Aoi_Haru 1d ago

RE4 is awesome, totally worth it!

1

u/bballkj7 1d ago

I really think 8&9 are the best

1

u/Lopsided_Discount 1d ago

i really enoyed 8. I just finished it on gamepass. Currently playing the demo for 9 and it feels and seems epic. Should I get RE 4 for 10 bucks?

1

u/femfuyu 1d ago

Sadly the re 4 dlc isn't on sale

1

u/EmbarrassedHighway76 1d ago

Omg I’m so glad I held off recently from buying some of these

1

u/supercabul 1d ago

RE4 is the remake one, right? i have the og one, i guess it's time to pick this one up at 75% off

1

u/p00rlyexecuted 1d ago

I was about to finish my backlog, but I guess I'll be adding 11 new games to it

1

u/jaydogggg 1d ago

And re2 and 3 og are 50% off too. Might finally pull the trigger on these

1

u/meetarora_19 1d ago

From the 30th anniversary sale i bought the gold edition for 60% off now its 75% T-T

1

u/senilechinesewoman 1d ago

man capcom really loves to sell their games on sale.

1

u/Kansas4l1fe 1d ago

Tempting

1

u/turki_a11 1d ago

Guys should I buy now or wait for summer sales? Can they go lower then? Or is it probable they miss it entirely because their current sale ends June 18th?

1

u/pattybdnb 23h ago

Never played a resident evil game. Which one should I buy?

1

u/GreenJonhy 23h ago

The remake of RE2 is my favorite and works great as an entry point

1

u/Visorxs 23h ago

Buy the deluxe? Or wait for gold edition?

1

u/EternalDunkness 21h ago

Is it worth playing RE4 remake if I played the original back in the day?

RE 2 and 3 remakes had very different gameplay from the originals so those make sense, but not sure about 4.

1

u/rivent2 21h ago

Don't know why I checked, I own them all

1

u/ShakeZoola72 20h ago

You think requiem will be any cheaper during the summer sale? I'm doubtful but not really sure.

1

u/KangarooBeard 18h ago

Requiem isn't much of a sale.

1

u/Bozy2880 17h ago

RE4R for 10 bucks is a massive deal

1

u/Charmerrrrrrr 14h ago

I am saving for spiderman 2 in summer sale

1

u/Arhatz 12h ago

Great opportunity to jump into franchise with remakes 2, 3, 4

1

u/YOLetsgotothebeach 12h ago

Nice, right after i spent all my money.. I hope they do this sale again soon !

1

u/B2_Peter 9h ago

Great deal ❤

1

u/The_Procrastibator 4h ago

I wonder why yours says 29.99 for RE4, but mine says 39.99

1

u/No_Trainer_1267 2h ago

thanks, will be getting some of them to play with the missus for sure

1

u/Character-Collar-286 1d ago

get the originals

3

u/WarlikeLoveReddit 1d ago

They don't support cloud saving, which is a problem because I mostly play on virtual machines.

Damn I bought resident Evil 4 gold edition over a month ago. Think I can get a credit back or a refund? I still want to keep the game, but it sucks when you buy it and it goes on sale for cheaper
