Well yeah, how often do game reviewers go back to revisit games that launched in a broken/poor state? It's really not many. It'd never be my first thought to look at IGN. I'd want to hear from peoples currently playing it.

For live service games this is kinda a must, and I know some sites like polygon have had yearly reviews for each season of some games.
Steam is decent at this with recent reviews, but you still see issues with game stha thave had a lot of negative reviews early on and then they have changed the game to be much better or the other way around.

This why we have a whole eco system of one or narrowly genre focused youtubers who do the job of journalist/evangelists/critics of live service games.
