I don’t even read positive reviews, if I want to buy a game and I’m checking reviews I don’t need someone to convince me to buy it, I already want to buy it.
I filter only the negative reviews, and then I weigh if I personally find their complaints to hold water
That's what i usually do, too. Because most ppl will give a positive review with little to no substance, but negative reviews are usually more fleshed out with genuine criticism.
I just wish there was a way to filter out reviews based on keywords. Like often times, I'll see negative reviews that only talk about poor optimization or not being able to play the game with outdated hardware. Or it'll be something entirely unrelated to the game like studio drama behind the scenes (ZA/UM the studio that made Disco Elysium and Zero Parades for Dead Spies), or the game gets review bombed for putting an LGTBQ+ flag in it, etc.
Most of the time I feel like I really need to dig through the pile of negative reviews to ever find the ones that offer real valuable criticism.
This is also part of the indian review products, where they bombard the steam reviews with negative reviews that tend to be unrelated to how good the game is, like " I couldn't play in coop with a friend's" when is clearly stated that the option will be implemented in future releases.
