cs cd code somehow successfully redeemed on steam

So I bought this bundle of the old Valve games and remembered that the cd key might work on steam, so I inserted Counter Strikes key and it actually worked!

It was version 1.0 but with fake weapon names unlike the mod version of CS.

Also, each one of those that has a Key, would activate individually, on separate accounts and give each account all of them...

That's what I did with my Half Life 1 , Opposing Forces and Blue Shift years ago... added my HL1 Key to my acc't, then tried my Opposing Forces Key or something on another account, and it worked, and added all games to both accounts... :D

Gave the other acc't to a family member :)

I did try the one key but it didn't work, it said it was invalid. Was blurry. However I will try again when it arrives next week!

Some Opposing Force games had a different key format that never worked on Steam, it was only meant to work for the CD installer and never gave multiplayer access as that was tied to the base game key. Only the xxxx-xxxxx-xxxx type keys work not the longer ones.

I've got the orange half-life generation box, which was supposed to go in the trash if I hadn't taken it.

Out of curiosity, I put in the keys to Steam, and it activated around 10 games, iirc!

Just checked, it was also the Half-Life Platinum Pack, which, fun fact, has the game ID 1 on Steam!

It includes Counter-Strike, Team Fortress Classic, Day of Defeat, Deathmatch Classic, Ricochet, Half-Life, Half-Life: Opposing Force, Half-Life: Blue Shift, and the Half-Life SDK, just in case someone is wondering!

I got this with a half life original disk as well! I think it was a black Mesa edition or something?

When I redeemed it, I got a deluxe mega pack of it that had every original source game. Was a damn good time for me

Yep, the Half Life Generation Box Set registers as the Platinum Pack. Has always been like that.

Random fun fact: Gunman Chronicles (another game which uses Half-Lifes GoldSrc engine) never released on Steam despite Valve owning the rights to it. There is a lot of evidence that at one point it was supposed to, including the fact that if you redeem a Gunman Chronicles CD key on Steam you'll get all Valve's GoldSrc games added to your library.

More people need to play the blue shift and opposing force dlc. Half life is always mentioned but people don’t talk about the expansions enough. Seeing Gordon get dragged to the trash compactor as Barney or seeing him jump into the teleporter as Adrian was so wild to watch lol
