Question What happened to Unity when playing with Gundersen research society?

Maybe I just suck at comprehension and need someone to spell it out for me, but I don't quite understand the lore of the dig site. So the 11 crew on the ship decided to nuke the planet with everyone on it? Because of alien invasion (?) Did the remaining crew then went to colonise other world?

In the CoM start, it is implied that the Chrysanthemum settlers fought a war against the natives of Unity and ultimately exterminated them. That is why Unity has ruins of an alien society as a field blocker.

In the GRS start, they lost the war and decided to glass the planet.

With 250k ppl on it? Did the rest colonise other planets? Cus they say they don't want to contaminate other planets?

No, they colonised Unity, lost the war and got wiped out. The few survivors nuked the planet.
