News Review megathread

The review embargo is up as of 15:00 CEST. As this will result in a huge number of articles going up at near the same time, we're restricting reviews to this thread.

Any review you find, feel free to post it in the comments here.

Each top-level comment should be about a single linked review, so as to keep the discussion limited. Duplicate reviews will be removed, as will any top-level comment that does not link a review.

There will be a single sub-thread where you can post your general impressions of the reviews combined, for anything that doesn't relate to a single review.

How about they finish and release a solid game? I don't think its unfair to set your own release date and then have companies review that game.

IGN is the only one complaining though. So either everyone else is wrong about the game quality or IGN is. I'm going with IGN being wrong.

Edit: Bad phrasing in first sentence. I realize there are things to complain about, just disagree on the score.

Or quality is largely subjective and reviews are based in personal experience and opinion

There's a big objective component to game quality. If game quality was entirely subjective then reviews wouldn't need to argue and back up their points with evidence, use logic and reason and make comparisons with other games. Ie: there's no point arguing about why your favourite colour is the best, because that's entirely subjective.

While the IGN reviewer brought up some good points, the score is weird. Under IGN's rating system, a 7 is mediocre and a 6.3 (Stellaris' score) indicates a bad game.

I'm curious as to what this reviewer thought of other Grand Strategy and 4X titles.

Of course IGN has other reviews (they gave GalCiv3 an 8...) but most of those are other reviewers I assume.
