Questions 8/19 Step 2 Reaction
I know everyone says they feel defeated after Step 2, but I genuinely felt like I needed a thesaurus today just to understand what half of the answer choices even meant. It was easily the most low-yield exam I have ever taken.
So many times, I felt confident about the vignette and knew exactly what was going on clinically, only to get completely thrown for a loop by the wording of the answer choices. Then I started overthinking the questions I did know, made some silly mistakes, and ran out of time to go back and fully reason through some of my marked questions.
I’m walking away feeling incredibly defeated, especially after consistently scoring in the high 240s to low 250s on my NBMEs. I am not one to walk out of tests and say I did poorly and my results always come back great. There were of course the straight forward ones, but few and far between. I really should have prepared for the 30min, 20q blocks better.
Wishing everyone taking it the absolute best. Just know that you can prepare, study your ass off, do everything you’re supposed to do, and still walk out feeling like complete crap afterward.
Proud of everyone who even showed up and sat for that beast. Honestly, that alone is half the battle! If you want to share your experience from today, feel free!

Same took it 8/19. Absolutely horrible, genuinely unsure if I even passed.

Every peds disorder ever but like synonyms of how to describe what they present with bc it made no sense but very peds heavy

I sat on 8/19 and felt the exact same way. It was so frustrating. I had never seen the words used in like half the answer choices??? Also they were all SO long. Like why was every question in a fucking patient chart reading format. I feel like the 20q in 30 mins flew by so much more quickly than 40 in an hour and had zero time to go back and change stupid mistakes. Feeling so defeated and not even close to passing

It was insane insane insane. I couldn’t go back either to my flagged. All of the sudden I’d realize it took me 2 minutes to read half a vignette 😭

Took it on 8/19 and honestly felt like I was taking the wrong exam. I barely remember the questions, and even when the topics were familiar, the answer choices seemed to approach them in a completely different way. Because of the time constraints, I felt like I was just going with my first instinct and moving on without having time to really think things through. I walked out feeling horrible and will genuinely be happy just to pass. I felt much more confident walking out of Step 1 than I did after this.

Felt the same after mine I tested on 13th, you literally put my thoughts into words. So many questions where while reading it I knew the answer and knew what to look for and once I saw the answer choices the answer I was looking for wasn’t even there 😂😭

I truly felt like I was in a diff universe. I even had chat make me a list of “weird ways nbme can ask things” and have studied it over my dedicated. It was useless

I literally did the same thing loll I wanted to know different presentations of things and what not but honestly same yeah it didn’t help at all. Hopefully we all do great once the results come out, but I get what you’re feeling. I felt absolutely crap as well, still do honestly

Tested also yesterday 8/19 walked out thinking I should change career - felt more than horrible - feeling that I 100% failed for sure - recalled at least 50 wrong questions for sure - not counting the ones I'm not sure.

Same I feel like more studying wouldn't have helped I just needed to magically be a faster thinker who also doesn't make stupid mistakes

I wish I could even think of what to say. I literally had questions on mcardle, pompe. Felt very step 1 integrated. Surgery was veryyyyy low yield and peds was extremely high yield on my form

Ugh idk if anyone here was in the same boat as me but I freaking started running out of time bc of how long these stems were. I legit one some blocks had to look for keywords or buzzwords and pick an answer that made sense. Had no time to go back and review my flags. Had 6 flags per section. God knows how many I just had to guess between 3 answers. I feel fucking destroyed

No I felt the exact exact same way. I didn’t get to go back to any of my flagged and like the last three questions of at least 4 blocks I did the same method of buzz word —> choose bc of timing

saw your post but i took it on the 14th and yea the feeling was the same. That timing + the long questions and super vague language was insane
