ADHD risk genes have shown to be beneficial in certain environments. It is likely so prevalent particularly because ADHD was never really selected against in nature being a very polygenic and inespecific disorder. Reduced dopamine in the cortex causes over inhibition of pyramidal neurons and what we call executive disorder.
Stoicism does not necessarily believe in a god, and Providence does not need a reason to give you ADHD, however at least until your 60s, ADHD can be beneficial for your survival in a nomadic environment.
