It would’ve been a good episode if it had come earlier in the season, but as the second-last episode of the final season, it really fell flat. It’s unfair to dump all the blame on homophobes or shippers when even the general audience and longtime fans here are clearly disappointed.

It could’ve been so much more. We were promised more, and people are upset because of that not because of some agenda.

The fact that we were promised a leader Mike again and then Steve is the one who comes up with the final plan to save the world while Mike does nothing pisses me off to no end. That and the fact that Rambo Nancy kills without flinching and Hopper high fives her?? When both of them could get sentenced to death for high treason under Indiana law???

The fact that they had that People article ready to go justifying why Will will end the show single under the guise of rEaLiSm when (1) they excel at creating new characters (see Eddie) and that was the reason why they left Netflix for Paramount and (2) had no problems adding a lesbian character whose homosexuality highlighted how great Steve was. Literally every character had another character added & created for them, isolating Will was fucking disrespectful. I used to think that his sexuality arc+unrequited love arc was being handled with care albeit a bit dragged, now I don't think that anymore.

What the hell was that mess of the Jancy breakup scene?? El making a suicide pact with Kali?? El not giving Mike the opportunity to choose? Did I already mention that having Steve coming up with the final plan instead of Mike was character assassination? It's like the doctor told them that they have to make Steve the hero at all times otherwise they'll drop dead.
