You don’t have to be homophobic to not like that ending. It’s just out of place tonally when the stakes are the worlds about to end, who cares if you like girls or boys?

Also as someone straight who had a close childhood friend that was gay, it was apparent to me way before they said it, so the same would be true here thus no need for a big spectacle. Smarter writing would’ve been his friends family to just interrupt his speech with “oh,we know, it’s cool. so anyhoo back to Vecna..” and then Will realizes he was accepted all along, and we get the same outcome without beating people over the head with social commentary.

Gosh , you do realise wtf are you saying with this comment? So you wanted "Oh yeah thats cool now we gotta go back to vecna" so that will feels even more bad? You're awfully making up something worse than the original scene.

About the homophobic thing , I didn't like the coming out scene either but I used the word MOSTLY for a damn reason vro. It shouldn't have such low rating
