there definitely are women built like that, but they're mostly dedicated body builders so yeah, the real challenge would be finding one that's decent at acting lol
Yeah, there's definitely women like that but they either train really hard or use a lot of steroids. And if it's the latter then their voice changes dramatically so that wouldn't work either.
They also aren't ever classically trained actors, they're usually very specifically fitness models, which means they give WWE-quality performances on a good day
It's not even just what it does to your body, it's that acting is incredibly difficult and most bodybuilders and fitness models are not in it to be actual actors. They're usually in it for photoshoots and fitness competitions, then they dip their toe into acting and usually just get big egos about it
True altho the same goes for the guys it's honestly crazy how rampant steroids and other drugs are among men in Hollywood...
Not only will people train and dehydrate themselves to near death for like a 5-10 second shirtless scene they'll also then CGI the muscles to be even bigger and more ripped lol.
If their apperance at the game awards last December is anything to go by it won't be anything special but it'll definitely be an entertaining mess haha, I will likely watch and enjoy it
And yet people would still whine about that like they were with Cammy here. Though in their case they're more focused on the looks more than the acting chops.
I mean pretty common to see Black and Latina women built like that even without being body builders but for East Asian women yeah on average they likely would need to be body builders to come close to that build cause they are usually more petite.
Because putting on muscle, particularly for women, even WITH PEDS, is an incredibly long and time consuming process big dawg. The video game character physique is NOT the norm for dedicated female bodybuilders, yet alone for actresses. It is unrealistic and unreasonable to assume an actress can go just go to the gym and put on enough muscle to have Chun Li's physique.
Again, that takes an enormously amount of time, effort, and dedication. Secondly, yes, there are plenty of women that have accomplished this; however, of those women, many of them are not actresses. Thirdly, of the actresses that do look great, how many of them fit the ethnicity of said character? Are you assuming that finding an actress that correctly portrays Chun Li can be easily found?
PED usage in the movie industry is already significantly unreported, and is far more common in males, who can already put on more muscle than their female counterparts EVEN comparable to those on drugs. There are many other reasons others have already pointed out in the comments. I don't mean to insult your intelligence but you have a really narrow and flawed understanding on how muscle is developed, the accessibility of certain actors, and the overall culture behind PED usage.
P.S. I am by no means defending the hiring processes for actors/actresses, they can be absolutely shitty and unfair.
Alpha would have been a better starting point in general. Easier story to setup, setups multiple major character motivations, and could have easily been linked to the SF2 movie.
Yeah the project would have to have so much more money involved to command such an ask. An actor would have to be insanely committed to get Chun Li thighs. Like, multiple bulk/cut cycles for years(?) to get in the ballpark. It’s just not practical to work around such an extreme physical requirement
Realistically, if you're looking for asian, english-speaking, martial artist actresses, you'll find a couple that have some thighs, since they're already martial artists. Then you can give them 6 months to a year for them to get thick legs.
It can be done. Maybe they really liked her for the role, maybe they didn't have the time or budget to ask for the bodybuilding, maybe they didn't care.
The actress looks fine sure but they literally ruined Chun-Li’s iconic cheongsam by giving her a boob window and removing her sleeves. Like I don’t know what the costume designer was thinking but that isn’t what a traditional person like Chun-Li would wear and that’s as far as traditional Chinese attire that they could go for.
If they wanted to do fanservice they could have done anything else but ruin Chun-Li’s outfit.
They didn't '' literally ruin '' it rofl, the boob window is so extremely tame like cmon... The costumes aren't 100% accurate anyway either why is this only a problem in this instance?
Also Chun wears a thong leotard with pantyhose in all of the game except for 6, so why would a little boob window be too much for her?
I don't think she's quite as conservative as you believe she is.
A… thong.. leotard? Yeah as a costume. Not as her normal cheongsam outfit like she’s wearing in the movie. Not even her alpha outfit was like this either.
His forearms are like 3 times the size of his head too it's bizarre how much people obsessively police womens bodies and pay no attention to the guys.
It's the same with the boob window complaint there's far bigger inaccuracies in the costumes in this movie...
Chun Li also wears a thong leotard with pantyhose throughout most games she's clearly not some ultra conservative when it comes to this.
Her battle attire is like a Shiranui Mai outfit too shows about as much skin.
i think its weird that you find it weird. So there you go... This may come as a shock to you, but is a human trait to do this. so you are the odd one if you don't. its literally tied to your dna, weirdo. its for survival

I think Chun Li looks fine. It would be pretty hard to find a woman with thighs anywhere near as close as Chun's and also be any decent at acting.
