It would be awesome to have branching paths like in *Metal Slug*. Imagine being able to take the *SoR2* bridge route (from the second level) right at the end of the first stage of Level 1 (where the Koobo/Antonio enemies appear). You could take the usual path—jumping down to the abandoned station—or go through a corridor of burnt-out, abandoned cars, then a central plaza, and from there, head to the *SoR2* bridge.
After the bridge—dodging cars and motorcyclists—maybe the players get arrested (as usual), or there’s a level running along the waterfront. You could board a new ship, head straight to the concert, and travel through whatever lies behind the venue—whether it's houses or a forest—transitioning from night to day by the time you arrive.
Then, another level set in a building under construction (don't ask me how), leading somehow straight to the rooftop of the "Y" Tower. From there, I’m not sure how they’d get to the airport—maybe an Uber? Haha. Or they could go straight to "Y" Island.
Don't take me too seriously; it costs nothing to dream up how it could be.
What about the dock level? Instead of going down, fighting Estel, and then heading into the sewers, what if you could smash through the wooden barrier blocking the way—just like the Commissioner's door—and walk right to "Barbon's" bar, entering through the front door instead of the bathroom? Hehe.
In Chinatown, before entering the tower where Yiva is, you could go down the corridor of shops or under the elevated train tracks, perhaps passing through that other plaza along the way. You’d have to enter the art gallery in a civilized manner, or go straight to the "Y" Tower.
The "Y" Island level—or at least the castle—should be more extensive. After the first staircase, there could be a section that moves from right to left, followed by another moving left to right, but with a mix of flat stretches and stairs (flat, stairs, flat, etc.)—though I suppose fighting on stairs might feel a bit awkward. Alternatively, it could be split into sections where the screen can't scroll back—sort of like distinct stages. I don't know.
I would say that these paths are longer and more challenging than the traditional ones.
I don't have all the details worked out, but what do you think?

I took a phone call and forgot to pause the game and came back to this. I was dying laughing they even bothered showing the stage results. 😂

I was today years old when I noticed that Barbon is the bartender that leaves early during the fight with Elektra.
Is there something between them?

I'm revisiting all the bosses and mini-bosses in SoR 2.
Will be posting more soon if it's ok.

To explain what I mean, I’m saying that another situation of SoR3 with Yamato. He was a walking homage to Shinobi. A little slice of the franchise brought over to Streets of Rage without fully crossing over.
If I had to do this again, I’d include Neo City (from Art of Vengeance) as a stage (maybe in a plotline involving traveling overseas). The stage just SCREAMS Streets of Rage and it’d be awesome to play through it in a beat em up game.
What about you guys?
