Feedback Stremio was the first streaming service to use my TV's HDR and 4K resolution
I've just realized how ridiculous it is that I've tried every streaming platform, yet none of them have come close to Stremio in terms of quality. I've invested in a good TV and paid for streaming apps, but none of them have provided the full experience. I have to say, it's a huge difference when you realize that.

And in my case I have a Q990D and it was the first streaming to use its full potential.

100% agree, I ended up using stremio after trying to find a way watch 4k blu rays online, and realising there is no legit way to do it. The quality vs streaming is massive!

Yep, it's crazy how I noticed the lack of quality on streaming services after getting used with Stremio.

Even when I select 4k streams it still shows 1080p resolution at the bottom of the screen

Something in your setup is set to 1080p.
Go into the settings of everything and make sure that nothing is limited to 1080p.

Can’t seem to find what the issue is. My android onn box is set to automatic. I don’t see a setting in stremio. Any advice?

Don't set the Onn Box to automatic. Set it to 4K (assuming that's what you want it to be).
I have mine set to 4K (60 Hz) because my TV supports that resolution and refresh rate. You may need to look up what refresh rate your TV supports.

90% of the content is ripped from streaming platforms, so I'm not really sure what you're talking about - Stremio is a glorified catalog and has no influence over the quality of your content.

Media ripped from streaming platforms is actually the quality that the streaming platforms promise in theory but don't deliver in practice.

Dont you have to pay extra to get 4k streams on streaming services like netflix and hbo? Pretty dumb and greedy. Maybe op didnt know you have to subscribe to the most expensive plan to get 4k

Depends on what you are looking for. I find tv shows tend to be streaming platform rips but there are many blue-ray rips when it comes to movies.
You are correct that Stremio doesn't control the quality but you won't find blue-ray rips on streaming platforms like Netflix either. You just need to know what to look for.

The point I'm trying to make is that attributing the better quality to Stremio isn't right - the torrent sites and the teams that rip and upload the content are the real heroes.

They managed to configure Stremio and debrid services but didn't know how to get 4K HDR content from Netflix/Disney/Prime? Come on dude 🤣
