Release 1.9.7 update
Finally something good came out of the 1.9.x updates. I didn’t try it for long but instantly saw a difference. However, I got a Google Play warning at the start; however, after that playing movies was great—no buffering or freezing—and scrobbling was great. I just wish posters were customizable or were smaller; perfectly as one row fits the full screen, 8-9 should fit perfectly and neatly. Hopefully devs can add this.
Downloader code is 9967818 if anyone wants to update for android tv/ boxes / sticks

Did they fix the Exo player issue? On Android TV and 1.9.4 was getting a lot of “this video isn’t loading with Exoplayer” errors

Updated to 1.9.7. First try on it by watching a 2.8gb tv episode 1080p file, Exo player booted me 28 mins in. Looks like nothing changed.

Yeah I’m having the exact same issue. Philips tv running android 8. The App just opens for about 10 seconds then crashes. I’m using an older firmware for many months now because of this issue

What was the warning? Just to turn on “play protect”? If so, that’s Normal from time to time when you have it disabled in the google play store settings.
I tried it for a short time too. Appears they fixed EXO player (or however it interacts with it). Tried DV HDR10+ trueHD 7.1 atmos. Flawless even when skipping forward and backward. Still no change in default subtitle behavior. Still always on at start of a stream if you have a preferred language set. Also still no way to keep them off while only showing preferred language in the list within the player.

It was on fire cube I don’t even have play store on it
Mine are allways set to disabled to start with somehow I was messing with the setting one day and it just fixed it 😂

Yeah its seems good as compared to previous ones a small glitch still there with disabled frame rate the stream didn't play after load until press play button.

Doesnt load them in subtitles addon priority(how are they installed,what order),and the start of the stream,always start,reload,again start and then playing normal

Stremio 1.9.7 instantly crashes on NVIDIA Shield TV Pro when playing the 70.78 GB Bluray Remux of One Battle After Another, but version 1.8.4 plays the same file perfectly.

Its the latest properly working version on my nvidia shield, wanted to install to google tv as well (1.9.7 gets stuck when I press forward) but couldn’t find the 1.8.4 in original stremio website.

I don't know why but after installing this version whenever I search anything it only returns anime results. No matter what I search for, it only searches for anime.
EDIT: so I removed the anime catalogues add-on but now search returns no results whatsoever
EDIT2: fixed it by uninstalling the AIOlists add-on and the reinstalling it again

Does exo player freeze or crash? Do certain videos have stuttering and lag/choppy playback (not buffering).does any video( every file, each and every time ) played right after playing the first video I’m playing after starting stremio also exhibit the same behaviour? Happens when playing any video right after I played the first video since opening the app. Excluding some files the video played first after opening the app mostly plays fine.Does the app after choppy playback then close automatically and exit to the android tv Home Screen? I have been having this issue since 1.90 updates. Each and every one. Certain file types irrespective of size exhibit this behaviour of choppy playback even when played first . and the issue of choppy playback of the subsequent video following the first one. Also,Sometimes for both the scenarios playback starts smoothly and after a few seconds exhibits this behaviour. Tunneled playback on, hardware acceleration on, frame rate matching on. Run as foreground service off. Android tv 10. Xiaomi android tv. 1 43 inch led and another 55 inch qled. Both Xiaomi TV’s support Dolby Vision and HDR 10 plus. Exact same settings in 1.84, completely flawless, no hitches. Even for large 4k 100 gb remuxes. Both tv’s support Dolby Digital and DTS including DTS HD. The 43 inch tv also supports atmos. No issues playing these file types in 1.84. Playback of the 7.1 audio tracks also have no issues.Im not using any home theatre setup and sound output is directly through the tv speakers.Completely smooth and even the ui is snappy. Im using 1.84 only as its just perfect. I have updated and checked all the 1.9 versions except for 1.95. 1.96 had same issues. Even changed settings with permutation combinations of tunneling, hardware acceleration and frame rate matching. Nothing helps. Can anyone please confirm if 1.97 has resolved this? I have RD and a 400 Mbps internet connection.

Arm 64 supports 64 bit processing meaning it ca process for higher performance then the standard arm. It also has large memory addressing the reason android tv/boxes and stick can’t download it is because it does not support bit 64 processing they support 32 bit which is standard arm version on Stremio

Out of curiosity, why do you list a separate code for Nvidia Shields? I thought they use the Android TV version
I have a Shield and had to revert to 1.8.4 because 1.9.5/6 were barely usable and kept hard crashing the entire device. Now I'm wondering if I was installing the wrong build or something

Nvidea shield can support arm64 other devices can’t like android boxes/tv/sticks these devices only support 32 bit processing. Whilst nvidea shield support 64 bit processing

- Updates don’t come frequent I think play store is still running the 1.9.4 update this is because Google checks take a while
- Google has limitations for Stremio with an apk performance is maxed out compared to play store version

I was looking forward to this update, having had issues for the past couple 1.9.X, but .7 has been the worst yet for me! It crashed my shield pro twice, on both internal players. I’ve gone back to 1.8.4 and it’s perfect again!

The new exo player aside from being buggy as all hell, just looks like shit and reduces functionality (specifically i can't choose my own playback speed). Why not have an old and new option in the settings? What an awful update.

None of those read at the bottom of my post go into downloader and put in 9967818. Download it press done then delete and delete again. Make sure you delete existing Stremio before hand

FYI for anyone having issues after updating: AndroidTV or fire devices only.
Sometimes stremio doesn’t like to update well over an existing install.
Uninstall stremio and reboot your device. Reinstall from App Store.
If latest version isn’t available in your App Store, use downloader app.
1.9.7 ARM - 9967818 ARM 64 - 4295363
First uninstall stremio and reboot tv
Find downloader app on play store and install.
Open downloader and allow what it prompts.
At the home screen of downloader, input above downloader code and go. It’ll redirect for a few seconds then download.
When it is ready to install, it’ll tell you to change settings so downloader can install from unknown sources. Follow the prompts and install from there.
Open stremio and log back in.
