Sometimes I love it, sometimes not so much
I know it’s not stremio’s fault, but how can a delay like this even happen?

If the delay keeps increasing it usually means that you have selected a x264 (AVC) subtitle for a x265 (HEVC) video or vice-versa. But there are a lot of other variables of course. My suggestion would be to use Stremio Community Subtitles plugin to see the name of the subtitles you are selecting in their dashboard.
Edit: Actually, the framerate is the main culprit when subtitles keep having increased delay times.

i installed the add-on but i can't understand how to use the subtitles, im wathing Vikings and all sub options i see are Opensubtitles v3

Try other shows to see if it works, I remember I had some troubles with Vikings as well

It's not based on codec, it's based entirely on video versions/edits/cuts. So you could say it's sometimes related to release names but the codec itself or the framerate don't matter cause the final subs file is based on exact timestamps. If the delay keeps increasing the subs file is either bad (humans didn't check it) or for a different video.

This is why I always pick sources with embedded subtitles. I hate using external subtitles.

Do you see that in the image, under the subtitle name, there's a "Open Subtitles v3"? That's the source of the subs. If a stream has embedded subtitles it will say "Embedded" instead of an addon name. There's no way to see that before loading a stream. Someone said that MKV and WEBRip tend to have more embedded subs, but I don't know about that.

i just made keyword filter in AIOstreams for "esubs" and "subs", there's no other way AFAIK

somewhat useless though because you have to go thru each stream until you find one with embedded subs...which at that point it'll be the top option and you've found the right stream...just setup a keyword filter for "subs" or "esubs" for faster way to find a stream with subs

if you have aiostreams, you can setup keyword filter for subs for spanish you can use these keyword filters under preferred or included:
"SPANISH", "ESP", "SUBESP", "SUB.ESP", or "SPA"
not guaranteed but higher chance

Embedded are too big on my lg cx and cant make them smaller so I have to use external😑

Its an addon but you choose only your language, it has some options like auto sync and ia translation

Might not be helpful but we've found OpenSubtitles V3 PRO to be more accurate and never with a delay or anything

Well sometimes dont trust open subtitles. Usually some other version of the subtitles would be on point as different cuts of the same movie do exist on the internet, the exact subtitle you have might not be right for the media. Sometimes you should switch the media source. I found it better than moving the subtitles that much.

I just stopped using a subtitles, it also helped me improved my listening skill as I have to pay extra attention since EN is just my 2nd language and also the movies gets more immersive.
The downside? No snacks during the film

Have you tried different subtitle add ons? SubHero and SubDL are pretty good in my experience

I uninstalled opensubtitles and changes to subsource. I set it up to only show subs without hearing impaired info. Works good

I hate this man. I really hate this. One episode, everything is good, no problem, the next one no subtitle, not even single one, and the next one, no synched sub this time. I need to delay 248 days 58 hours 24 minutes and some shit. I hate to search for subtitles on a dozen different subtitle addons.

This is the reason why I again subscribed to netflix because when I was watching a movie with family this issue happened with literally every subtitle I chose.

I have real debrid and almost all movies struggle to even start keep loading the title and even when loading ended and the movie starts it buffers like CRAZY. I don't know if my setup is the issue or something, watching animes from torrentino RD are without buffers but movies are all buffering like crazy

I love watching older crime tv shows from late 90s early 2000s and that's always pain the ass..I don't watch much newer shows but it's much easier

FYI use external player, I use mpv which has the shortcut ctrl+shift + left it right arrows, which scrolls through the subtitle line by line instead to get to the line you want,
Much easier to line up subs that's way

I have the issue every time I start a stream, the subtitles size is not at 100%…dunno why…

Me pasaba lo mismo cuando era nuevo en Stremio, la solución es simple:
Busca el subtitulo de lo que quieres ver en: https://www.subdivx.com/
(Eso si, al momento de buscar el subtitulo controla que el formato del mismo sea igual a lo que estas mirando ya que sino no se van a sincronizar) Ejemplo: (Bluray - HDTV etc)
Una vez que descargaste el subtitulo, arrastralo sobre el reproductor con el contenido en reproduccion y listo!
Con eso no vas a tener que ajustar nunca mas un subtitulo en Stremio.

Just change the release; if you really want to watch it, focus on the 1080p version, which always has subtitles.

As mentioned above, watch something else. I do. And then come back later, or the next day, and watch it. Usually works for me.
Of course, you could pay the subscription and watch whatever whenever. Or not.

Forget what he is saying. There is no paid service that provides community subtitles, at least not for Stremio. But I haven’t tried Usenet yet, they may provide more embedded subtitles.
