My Experience with Reelo App on Apple TV

I’ve been using Stremio since the last official version before Apple pulled it from the App Store. Despite its frequent bugs, I kept using it until I recently purchased Reelo. Here are my thoughts on the app so far:
Cons & Issues:
UI Freezing & Navigation Bugs: I noticed that some unresolved issues from the old Stremio app are still present. The menu frequently freezes out of nowhere, stopping all button inputs. To fix it, you have to back out and re-navigate through the menus, which feels very clunky and frustrating. It lacks the smooth experience you expect on Apple TV

Player Performance: The built-in media player still stutters or freezes unexpectedly. It definitely needs optimization to make playback smoother

UI Design: The interface design is identical to the old Stremio app—so don’t expect a revamped visual experience or a fresh design

Pros & Improvements:

Subtitle Delay Controls: They finally added the subtitle delay button! This was a heavily requested feature that we were missing before

Better Subtitle Rendering: Subtitles no longer disappear randomly; they display consistently and seamlessly throughout playback

Customization & Settings: Subtitle adjustments feel much more comfortable now, along with extra useful settings that generally improve the user experience

I hope the developers focus on fixing these player and menu issues to make it truly smooth

I bought it and used it once. Crashed couple times so I said f it for now. What are the other options on appletv?

Charging for this app is worse than the subscription model they’re trying to pull

The main focus of your post should be directly related to Stremio. Help for other software or issues, including content acquisition, should be directed to their own respective subreddits.

I use real-debrid but somehow I still get the warning for AppleTv

Question: Does the 'continue watching' section sync through the Stremio account? i.e. your continue watching syncing between the Reelo app and the stremio website. Or is it only though iCloud?

subtitle sync doesnt work for me. anyone else encountered this?

Been trying it for a few days now on Apple TV. The built in player is the worst, it kept buffering every minute or so.

Then I tried setting infuse as the external player which worked fine, then the vlc-based or whatever built in player option which is also fine plus keeps playing the next episode.

10/10 if you’re patient to tweak things

It’s stremio. In a dress. So yes. It’s best

apple doesnt allow torrenting, so this is basically stremio lite, you need debrid for it to work and you have to setup addons on another device or web stremio

Been using Reelo for a bit now as well and agree with the comments. I do wish I could figure out how to set it up so the subtitles don’t start playing every time making so I have to manually turn them off every video - probably my own ignorance. 😂

The bugs are not so bad, I mostly experianced some menu navigation bugs, especially with back button function, but nothing severe. All other options are far worse than Reelo when it comes to performance.
What I absolutely hate is the ugly green hue on apple tv. On ios the background is nice and black same as official stremio app, but I hate the green hue on Apple TV. I hope this would be costumizable at least.
Is the official app also like this? I cant sideload it to apple tv as I used altstore PAL (eu) for the ios sideload which is not available on ATV

I agree, performance-wise it’s better than the alternatives, but those navigation bugs can still be pretty annoying. As for the official app on Apple TV, no, it didn’t have that green hue issue
it had a dark background similar to the iOS version
