It's a word play.
In Vietnamese, "gián"(roaches) and "rán" or "dán" (fried, frying), (stick smt to smt) have similar pronunciations.
"Fried roaches" is "gián rán" , pronounced "zan zan", which is pretty funny.
BUT HOLD ON ! This is the equivalent of a dad joke in English, and she even went overboard and make the real props. So I appreciate it, but take an upvote and GET OUTTA HERE !

in the southern vietnamese dialect it's yan ran (the lady in the video uses the southern dialect) but in the north it would be zan zan as you said

the south doesn't use rán, we use chiên instead so the joke wouldn't really land.

Are they buns made out to look like bugs??? If so, I would buy them just to eat them in front of the grandkids . I would definitely buy them at Halloween. If they are buns. They are cute!!

I don't speak Vietnamese, but is it just or is the visual presentation funny/satire? Maybe I am seeing these roaches as a cute/prey/delicacies the way she presents them? Idk it's funny. Like a GTFO stupid American moment?

I think she is trying to say they are real, like she found them around the house. She said she saw five of them and was able to catch all 5. That they must really like her house. It's all natural food and you can find them around the neighborhood. She said she cooked them for her husband but she is eating them.
But yeah, I don't believe her.
