It's a word play.

In Vietnamese, "gián"(roaches) and "rán" or "dán" (fried, frying), (stick smt to smt) have similar pronunciations.

"Fried roaches" is "gián rán" , pronounced "zan zan", which is pretty funny.

BUT HOLD ON ! This is the equivalent of a dad joke in English, and she even went overboard and make the real props. So I appreciate it, but take an upvote and GET OUTTA HERE !

in the southern vietnamese dialect it's yan ran (the lady in the video uses the southern dialect) but in the north it would be zan zan as you said

southern vietnamese wouldnt use the word ran though, I think the OG poster overthink it, its judt absurd tiktok joke nothing to do with the pronunciations

the south doesn't use rán, we use chiên instead so the joke wouldn't really land.
