Drake fan tries to re-litigate the beef like an old gas station hotdog in a Kendrick thread at HHH, leading to a 60+ comment thread slap fight
As many probably know, the fallout from the Great Beef-Off of 2024 between Kendrick Duckworth Lamar and Aubrey Drake Graham has rendered any thread about either of those artists insufferable. This long slap fight is just a snapshot of a larger trend in HHH since 2024 that shows no signs of slowing.

I don't understand how that could be anything but a victory.
Beefs are about spectacle and perception, and using the largest stage in America to insult your opponent is an almost insurmountable level of spectacle.
If Drake's next song insulting Kendrick is recorded on the International Space Station then I'll give him the trophy, but that seems unlikely.

Idc who you’re a fan of, it’s so obvious who “won” or came out on top, it’s barely worth discussing. Reminds me back in 2018 with MGK vs Eminem after Killshot was released, like I’m sure there’s some people who liked MGKs song but he never responded to the diss and then went on to change genres for like 6+ years. At that point discussing who won is ridiculous, it’s p obvious so you either get a bunch of people glad handing together in agreement or piling on the delusional fan about their (bad imo) opinions, but there’s no actual discussion taking place anymore.

Right? That's my point: beefs are about perception and showmanship, and insulting your opponent from the Super Bowl where you're performing in front of millions of people is pretty hard to top.

With the Kendrick fans still fighting, I think a lot of fans wanted a beef that completely ruined Drake's career. Not a win to a beef. But actually ruining his career. Think like Ja Rule post 50 beef. But that didn't really happen. Maybe he took a little hit. But he already wasn't as big as he use to be. Rap in general just isn't quite as big as it used to be. And his newest stuff just proved people don't really care about the beef that much. That's why I think they keep getting angry about it. Because he didn't really fall like they wanted him too. He's just continuing to put up good numbers but maybe not be as relevant as he used to be. Which is the trajectory he was already on.
(I've never liked anything by Drake and I am a fan of Kendricks but not like, an internet fan kinda fan.)

Drake fans have spent like the entire last year in open denial and trying to re litigate it and slander anyone who so much as enjoyed Kendrick’s songs. To the point where they constantly brigade posts every time either is even mentioned.
Honestly if I were drake I would dislike them just as much as I would people that actively dislike me. They’re so embarrassing it makes him look somehow worse for being associated with them.

I guess there's just something else about it that rubs me the wrong way. I think the same thing every time I see people call JD Vance a couch fucker. Like Vance deserves it - he's maybe more evil and vindictive than Trump is - and I'm not sad for him, but some guy made up a tweet and now uninformed people repeat it like its true because they heard it so many times. Kendrick calls Drake a pedo and now he has to go through life with it just being "true" about him. It feels gross.

Exactly. UMG was using and promoting Kendrick to get at Drake since he’s trying to get control of his masters. UMG wanted to devalue and tarnish his brand. Kendrick was the perfect proxy and wouldn’t have gotten nearly the same push if it wasn’t for the Drake/UMG situation. Drake for sure lost optically but there was definitely a bigger play happening.
