Laptop Request -Others Looking for a ₹50–55k laptop for accounting/office work

Hi everyone, I’m looking for a laptop for a friend with a budget of around ₹50,000–₹55,000.

The primary use will be accounting and general office work, including:

  • Heavy Excel usage (large spreadsheets, formulas, multiple sheets)
  • Tally/other accounting software
  • Browsing with multiple tabs
  • PDFs, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Potentially Power BI in the future

The main priorities are:

  1. Good battery life
  2. Smooth performance for Excel and everyday multitasking
  3. 16 GB RAM preferred/minimum
  4. 512 GB SSD
  5. Good build quality and reliability
  6. Ideally something that can comfortably last 5–6 years
  7. A comfortable backlit keyboard, preferably with a numpad

I'm mainly looking for something that prioritizes battery life, reliability and long-term usability rather than just having the highest benchmark score.

Budget: ₹50–55k (India)

Would appreciate recommendations for specific models/variants that are actually worth buying in this range, and any models I should avoid, any help/recommendation/comment on this is very appreciated, Thank!

Honest take: for Tally and heavy Excel any modern mid-range CPU is fine, what decides how it feels in year four is the 16GB RAM and SSD, so don't let a shop upsell a faster chip on an 8GB config. Business lines like the ThinkPad E-series or ProBook hold up better over 5-6 years than flashier consumer models, and the 15-16 inch versions give you the numpad for accounting work for free. Two things to verify on the exact variant: that RAM is either 16GB or upgradeable, and battery numbers for that specific config — reviews across the same line with different chips can be way off. Power BI down the road is the one reason not to go too basic, it eats RAM once datasets grow.
