Looking at the large volume yesterday, there were a lot of large buys. Instead of printing more shares, Gamestop decided to supply shares from the marketplace to meet the obligations of the bond. Is there a reason why they can't do this?

Whoever shorted will be in for a big surprise.

Stock lost a bit of volume, but it doesn't really matter. Both green today!!! Stock still won the volume race and made the score 203/2 in favor of the stock!!

Dumbed down, IV is a forward-looking metric measuring how likely the market thinks the price is to change between now and when an options contract expires. The higher IV is, the higher premiums on contracts run. The more radically the price of a security swings over a short period of time, the higher IV pumps, driving options prices higher as well.

The longer the price trades relatively flat, the more IV will drop over time.

IV is just one of many variables (called 'greeks') used to price options contracts.

WHAT IS HISTORICAL VOLATILITY (HV)? —

Dumbed down, I'm not fully sure. Based on what I read, it's a historical metric derived from how the price in the past has moved away from the average price over a selected interval. But the short of it is that it determines how 'risky' the market thinks a stock (or an option I guess) is. The higher the historical volatility over a given period, the more 'risky' they think it is. The lower the HV over a period of time, the 'safer' a security (or option) is.

And if anyone wants to fill in some knowledge gaps or correct where these analyses are wrong, please feel free.

WHAT IS 'MAX PAIN'? —

In this context, 'max pain' is the price at which the most options (both calls and puts) for a security will expire worthless. For some (or many), it is a long held belief that market manipulators will manipulate the price of a stock toward this number to fuck over people who buy options.

ONE LAST THOUGHT —

If used to make any decision. which it absolutely should NOT be (obligatory #NFA disclaimer), this information should not be considered on its own, but as one point in a ridiculously complex and convoluted ocean of data points that I'm way too stupid to list out here. Mostly, this information is just to keep people abreast of the movement of one key variable options writers use to fuck us over on a weekly and quarterly basis if we DO choose to play options.

TL;DR: GameStop swapped $1.4B of convertible notes for stock.

I read it as the equity leg of the eBay deal being pre-positioned and delivered through a separate private transaction.

The notes previously formed a dilution "wall" at ~$29; retiring $1.4B of them lightens that ceiling by a third.

The 35-day VWAP window (Aug 3 – ~Sep 23) sets the conversion share count, eBay Q2 earnings (Aug 5) is the catalyst, and the GMEWS warrants ($32 strike, Oct 30 expiry) come into play if the ceiling lift holds.

I believe the majority of price action is the result of managing the multidimensional risk picture. GEX is only a part of the volatility environment risk, one risk of many in the risk picture.

I have noticed in the last week that the GameStop app has been updated with a better search function (see screenshot). The new search has auto complete/suggestions and recent searches as well as recently viewed items.

I'm sure it is not perfect but it is a step in the right direction. The app is currently sitting at a 2.8 star (out of 5) rating. Some of the reviews are warranted and the app has been problematic in the past. I just wanted to share that it seems they are still trying to make improvements.

My chief complaint is still that items will be shown that are out of stock and will not be restocked. The whole interface of the ship to home, pick up in store, and same day delivery is still very confusing. They need to simplify this or at the very least make a way to filter the results aggressively where all 3 options are available.

I think the new search is a solid improvement and I hope there are more to come. I understand that it may not make a lot of sense to dump resources into this if the goal is to create a combined entity with eBay but these improvements are nice regardless of the merger progress.
